Technical Notes 2021, Issue 102 - Retirement of Gordon Moulsdale, Head Teacher of Bishopbriggs Academy

The purpose of this technical note is to provide Members with an update on the retirement of Gordon Mousdale, Head Teacher of Bishopbriggs Academy.

Gordon Moulsdale has indicated his intention to resign on the 17th October 2021.

Gordon Moulsdale joined East Dunbartonshire Council in 2005 and took forward the merger of Thomas Muir High School with Bishopbriggs High School. He became Head Teacher of the newly named Bishopbriggs Academy in 2006.

The recruitment process for the new Head Teacher post is presently underway. 

Technical Notes 2021, Issue 100 - Planning Board 14th September 2021

1.The purpose of this Technical Note is to update Members in relation to the Planning Board meeting scheduled for 14th September 2021.   

2. The Executive Officer – Land Planning & Development has advised that there are currently no applications at a stage where they are ready for presentation to the Board for determination.  Following consultation with the Convener of the Planning Board, a decision has been taken to cancel the meeting scheduled for 14th September 2021. 

Technical Notes 2021, Issue 101 - Depute Chief Executive – Place, Neighbourhood & Corporate Assets

As you will be aware, following an extensive recruitment process, Thomas Glen has been appointed as Chief Executive of Perth & Kinross Council.

I can confirm that Thomas will therefore be leaving East Dunbartonshire Council at the end of October, however, given his balance of outstanding annual leave, his last working day with us will be Friday 1 October 2021 and I will confirm future organisational arrangements nearer that date.

Technical Notes 2021, Issue 99- Annual Audit Report 2019/20 (Audit Scotland) Waste Management - Council Decisions - EPB/125/20/AD

The purpose of this Technical Note is to provide Members with information in relation to the levels of performance for the net cost of waste collection and disposal for the financial year 2019/20 as highlighted in the Audit Scotland - Annual Audit report. This report was tabled at Council on 10 December 2020 where the Council remained in the lower quartile for both indicators, it is considered that these costs reflect the higher service levels provided rather than poor performance for these activities.

Technical Notes 2021, Issue 98 - Update on Extreme Weather – Friday 6th August to Monday 9th August 2021 – Response from East Dunbartonshire Council & Scottish Water

Extreme rainfall events occurred between the 6th and 9th of August 2021 across parts of the Council area, which put the existing drainage infrastructure across the region under significant pressure.  This caused localised flooding across the area, but specifically within certain locations in Bearsden, Bishopbriggs, Kirkintilloch, Lenzie, Milton of Campsie and Milngavie.

Technical Notes 2021, Issue 97 - Introduction of Parents Portal

The purpose of this technical note is to provide Members with an update in relation to the introduction of a new digital service for schools.

Parentsportal.scot is a new online service designed to help replace the traditional school bag drop. It provides direct communication to parents/carers through a growing suite of online services.  The portal has been developed to provide parents/carers with a clear insight into their child’s education and to support transactional communications between them and the school.
