Technical Notes 2023, Issue 211 - Nithsdale Crescent Remediation

  1. The purpose of this Technical Note is to provide an update on planned remediation works around Nithsdale Crescent, Bearsden.
     
  2. Following completion of the External Wall Insulation programme around the area in February 2024, the site will no longer required to be used as a compound area for our third party contractor.  On removal of their compound, the site will be remediated by colleagues in our Greenspace service via initial stone pick, site levelling and strimming.
     

Technical Notes 2023, Issue 210 - Your Housing News – Annual Performance Report

1. The purpose of this Technical Note is to inform Members that the Annual Performance Report, Your Housing News, is now available to customers on the Council’s website.

2. Publication of the Annual Report on the performance of Housing and Property Maintenance services is a requirement of the Scottish Housing Regulator and informs customers of performance against the Scottish Social Housing Charter (SSHC) Indicators for the financial year 2022/23.

Technical Notes 2023, Issue 209 - Scottish Youth Parliament Elections Update

  1. This Technical Note is to update Elected Members regarding the election process for Scottish Youth Parliament (SYP) held in November.
  2. Young Scot who manages the online voting platform on behalf of the Scottish Youth Parliament, alerted all councils to a problem with their digital supplier which meant that votes cast using mobile phones were not being recorded and could not be counted. 
  3. Over the last few weeks, the Scottish Youth Parliament and Young Scot have been looking at how best to complete the election process.

Technical Notes 2023, Issue 208 - Chief Executive Transition

  1. Following confirmation last week of Ann Davie’s appointment as the Council’s next Chief Executive Officer, I am now in a position to confirm the transition arrangements.
     
  2. Ann will assume permanent Chief Executive Officer and Head of Paid Service accountabilities from Monday 18 December. Whilst I will be taking some leave following the Council meeting on 14 December, I will continue to support the transition process until my formal retirement in January
     

Technical Notes 2023, Issue 207 - Civic Government Appeals Board – 11 December 2023

  1. The purpose of this Technical Note is to update Members in relation to the Civic Government Appeals Board (CGAB) meeting scheduled for 11 December 2023.  
     
  2. Members are advised that there is no business for this meeting of the CGAB to consider. 
     
  3. A cancellation notice will be issued and the meeting removed from Members’ diaries.
     
  4. The next scheduled meeting of the CGAB is 10am on 22 January 2024, which will proceed subject to business.

Technical Notes 2023, Issue 204 - Funeral Arrangements for Former Leader

  1. Following the sad news earlier this week of the passing of former Council Leader Keith Moody, I can share the funeral arrangements with councillors.
     
  2. The funeral will be held on Thursday 14 December at 1.30pm to 2.30pm at Duntocher Crematorium. Refreshments afterwards will be held in Kilmardinny House in Bearsden.
     
  3. As advised in my previous Technical Note, I have passed on the Council’s deepest sympathies to Vaughan and his family at this sad time.

Technical Notes 2023, Issue 203 - Christmas Suspension of Parking Charges

  1. The purpose of this technical note is to advise Members of the arrangements for suspension of parking charges across East Dunbartonshire over the festive period.
     
  2. In line with the approved Parking Management Plan (2022), Council can “Suspend parking charges for events and activities that are considered to have vital importance and worth to the local economy” (Policy 10).
     

Technical Notes 2023, Issue 202 - 2023 Festive Lighting Switch on Schedule

  1. The Technical Note is intended to provide an update on the planned Festive Lighting Projects and Events schedule.
     
  2. The Roads Street Lighting Team provide technical support to local community groups who lead on switch on events.
     
  3. It should be noted that some locations do not have a formal switch on events and in these circumstances the installations shall be left “fused up” to come on automatically with the streetlights at dusk on the designated dates as per the under noted table.
