Access to the closed section of road will only be maintained for emergency service vehicles, vehicles engaged in the works and those vehicles requiring access to properties adjacent to the closed section of road when its safe and practical to do so during the works.

As part of the carriageway resurfacing works, East Dunbartonshire Council also require to temporarily suspend the existing one way operation, on the following section of road, contained within the provisions of Schedule 12 of the "East Dunbartonshire Council (Bishopbriggs) (Traffic Management Consolidation) Order 2013, from 08.00 hours on Sunday 15 September 2024 until 18.00 hours on Sunday 29 September 2024.

Emerson Road West, Bishopbriggs, between its junctions with Crowhill Road and Lee Crescent, Bishopbriggs.

This will allow two way operation on the above named road, which will be controlled by way of temporary traffic signals and operatives when the above road is closed.  Manual control of the temporary traffic signals will be in place between 7am and 7pm, each day.

In order to prevent danger to the public arising from damage to the structural integrity of the bridge over the former railway bridge and for the works to be carried out in a safe manner, East Dunbartonshire Council will require to extend the existing temporary road closure on Chryston Road Fauldhead, between its junctions with Market Road, Kirkintilloch, and Sauchenhall Road/Muckcroft Road from 6pm on Sunday 22 September 2024 until 6pm on Friday 31 March 2025.

Strathkelvin Place, Kirkintilloch, from the most south westerly access leading to Kirkintilloch Police Station to its junction with Donaldson Street. There are no suitable alternative routes available.

Cowgate and West High Street, Kirkintilloch, between their respective junctions with Catherine Street and Achill Place.
Alternative routes: Vehicles on the northwest side of the closure should proceed westwards on West High Street then northeastwards on the A803 Glasgow Road then southeastwards on the A806 New Lairdsland Road then southwestwards on Catherine Street to the southeast side of the closure. Vehicles on the southeast side of the closure should proceed vice-versa.

Union Street, Kirkintilloch, between its junctions with Cowgate and Oxford Street. The alternative routes will be sign posted by way of Oxford Street and Kerr Street.

David Donnelly Place, from its junction with Cowgate, northeastwards for a distance of 30 metres or thereby. There are no suitable alternative routes available.

Southbank Road and Southbank Drive, between their respective junctions with Townhead and Strathkelvin Place. Alternative routes: Vehicles on the southwest side of the closure should proceed southeastwards on Southbank Drive then eastwards in Donaldson Street then northeastwards and northwestwards in Townhead to the northeast side of the closure.  Vehicles travelling southeastwards in Townhead at the northeast side of the closure should proceed vice versa.  Vehicles travelling northwestwards in Townhead at the northeast side of the closure should proceed northwestwards in Townhead and Cowgate then northeastwards in Catherine Street then southeastwards in the A806 New Lairdsland Road then westwards in Parliament Road then southwestwards in Townhead then westwards in Donaldson Street then northwestwards in Southbank Drive to the southwest side of the closure.

Southbank Road, from Southbank Drive southwestwards to its termination. There are no suitable alternative routes available. Access to the closed roads will be maintained for emergency service vehicles, vehicles engaged in event activities and those vehicles requiring access to properties adjacent to the closed section of road when it safe and practical to do so during the event.

Duration of closure: This closure will operate from 12.01am on Thursday 12 September 2024 until 11.50pm on Monday 23 September 2024.

Alternative routes: The alternative routes are by way of the A739 Crow Road, Anniesland; Anniesland Road, Anniesland; the A82 Great Western Road; the A8014 Kilbowie Road, Hardgate; the A810 Glasgow Road;  Duntocher Road; the A809 Drymen Road; and Canniesburn Toll Roundabout, and these routes will be signs posted.  The northbound lane of the A739 Switchback Road between Canniesburn Drive and Canniesburn Toll Roundabout, Bearsden, will also be used by way of a temporary contraflow system under the control of temporary six way traffic signals, from 12.01am on Thursday 12 September 2024 until 11.59pm hours on Monday 23 September 2024.  The temporary traffic signals will be manually controlled at all times.
