As part of the works, rolling temporary traffic signals will be used to control traffic movements on Canal Street/Peter D Stirling Road/Hillhead Road and Eastside, Kirkintilloch. The use of temporary traffic signals may result in delays to traffic in the area.

Access to the closed section of road will only be maintained for emergency service vehicles, vehicles engaged in the works and those vehicles requiring access to properties adjacent to the closed section of road when its safe and practical to do so during the works.

As part of the carriageway resurfacing works, East Dunbartonshire Council also require to temporarily suspend the existing one way operation, on the following section of road, contained within the provisions of Schedule 12 of the "East Dunbartonshire Council (Bishopbriggs) (Traffic Management Consolidation) Order 2013, from 08.00 hours on Monday 4 March 2024 until 18.00 hours on Sunday 10 March 2024.

  1.  Emerson Road West, Bishopbriggs, between its junctions with Crowhill Road and Lee Crescent, Bishopbriggs.

This will allow two way operation on the above named road, which will be controlled by way of temporary traffic signals and operatives when the above road is closed.  Manual control will be in place between 7am and 7pm, each day.

Reason for closure Scottish Power is to carry out cabling works on sections of the roads described below, as part of works associated with the construction of new Morrisons Store, Bishopbriggs.

  1.  Springfield Road between its junction with Arnold Avenue and the A803 Kirkintilloch Road, Bishopbriggs.  Alternative diversion routes for the closure of Springfield Road will be by way of Arnold Avenue, Emerson Road West, Lee Crescent, Crowhill Road, the B812 Auchinairn Road, Colston Road, and the A803 Kirkintilloch Road, Bishopbriggs, and these routes will be sign posted.  Callieburn Road and Beech Road, will also be sign posted.
     
  2. Kenmure Avenue between its junction with the A803 Kirkintilloch Road and Kenmure Lane, Bishopbriggs.  Alternative diversion routes for the closure of Kenmure Avenue, will be by way of the A803 Kirkintilloch Road, Brackenbrae Road and Kenmure Avenue, Bishopbriggs, and these routes will be sign posted.

8am on Monday 11 March 2024 until 6pm on Sunday 21 April 2024.

Notes

Access to the closed sections of road will only be maintained for vehicles engaged in the works and vehicles requiring access to properties adjacent to the closed section of roads when its safe and practical to do so during the works.  There will be no access through the closed sections of road for emergency service vehicles.

As part of the works, the existing traffic signals will require to be switched off  and temporary three way traffic signals incorporating pedestrian crossing facilities will be used on the A803 Kirkintilloch Road at its junction with Springfield Road and Kenmure Avenue, and  Kenmure Avenue at its junction with Kenmure Drive, Bishopbriggs, from 9.30am on Monday 11 March 2024 until 6pm on Sunday 21 April 2024.

The temporary traffic signals will be manually controlled between 7am and 7pm, each day.  The use of temporary traffic signals may result in delays to traffic in the area.

The affected residents/businesses will be lettered in advance of the works by the Contractor.

The alternative routes are by way of the MacFarlane Road, the A81 Milngavie Road, Bearsden, Main Street, Park Road, the B8050 Craigdhu Road, Milngavie, the B8050 Baljaffray Road and A810 Duntocher Road, Bearsden, the A810 Glasgow Road, the A8014 Kilbowie Road, Hardgate, the A81 Great Western Road, and these routes will be signposted. 

Access to the closed section of road will only be maintained for vehicles engaged in the works and those vehicles requiring access to properties adjacent to the closed section of road when its safe and practical to do so during the works.  There will be no access through the closed sections of road for emergency service vehicles.

The northbound carriageway of the A739 Switchback Road at Canniesburn Toll Roundabout and the southeastbound carriageway of Maryhill Road at its junctions with Canniesburn Toll Roundabout, Bearsden, will remain open at all times.

As part of the works lane closures will also be in place on the approaches to Canniesburn Toll Roundabout on the A739 Switchback Road (Northbound), the A809 Drymen Road and MacFarlane Road, Bearsden and also on sections of Canniesburn Toll Roundabout, which will remain open.
