Important announcement

STORM BOELO - The Met Office’s Yellow Weather warning for strong winds has been upgraded to Amber from 9pm on Saturday (24 October) and is due to last until 9pm on Sunday 25 October. Over the coming days and hours Council teams will be responding to any incidents that may occur as a result of the storm including flooding and fallen trees.

You can report flooding or fallen trees to us online.

However, you can let us know about emergency incidents such as a fallen tree blocking a road by calling 0300 123 4510.

The Council is responsible for enforcing parking restrictions in East Dunbartonshire.

Our Community Wardens use an electronic device to store information and produce the ticket, and they also take photos of the vehicle. They have body worn cameras that can record any incidents or inappropriate behaviour. At this time Police Scotland will continue to deal with vehicles causing an obstruction.

Parking in a disabled bay

Blue Badge holders can park for free in all of East Dunbartonshire's Council car parks - even where charges are in place and regardless of whether it is in a disabled bay as long as a valid disabled badge is properly displayed and the bay is detailed for said class of vehicle (not reserved for eg motorcycles or electric vehicles). You do not have to obtain a pay & display ticket.

Town centre car parks

Charging has been introduced within nine Council owned town centre car parks and charges will be in force Monday to Saturday 8am to 6pm.

The charges are:

  • 0-2 hours - £2
  • 2-3 hours - £3
  • 3-4 hours - £4
  • Over 4 hours - £6.

Pay and display charging for a limited amount of on-street parking spaces in two of our town centres is imminent and is presently due to come into effect from Monday 2 November 2026.

The streets upon which the charging will be applied are:

  • Kirk Road, New Kirk Road, and Douglas Place in Bearsden
  • Oxford Street, Townhead and Union Street in Kirkintilloch.

In line with the off-street charging car parks, charging times have been kept to a minimum, Monday to Saturday 8am to 6pm, with no restrictions in the evenings or on Sundays.

The charges to be applied are £0.50 for every 15 minutes, with a maximum stay of two hours and no return within an hour thereafter.
