Technical Notes 2023, Issue 145 - Former Provost Walker

  1. Members may be aware of the recent sad passing of former Provost Una Walker earlier this month.  Una was Provost of East Dunbartonshire from 2012 to 2017.
  2. Una had also previously served as Education Convener and had been been an elected representative of the Kenmure & Baldernock Ward, and subsequently the Bishopbriggs North & Torrance Ward for 14 years in total.
  3. Una’s family have confirmed that her funeral will take place on Saturday 30 September in St Matthew’s Church, Bishopbriggs, at 10.00 am and then on to Cadder Cemetery for 11.30am.

Technical Notes 2023, Issue 144 - Major Asset Projects - Bearsden PS and Milngavie PS

  1. In response to a question raised at the Policy & Resources Committee of 7th September relating to completion dates for Bearsden PS and Milngavie PS refurbishment projects, Members should note the following completion dates are accurate for each project at the current design stage for both projects:

            Bearsden PS – December 2025
            Milngavie PS – October 2025

Technical Notes 2023, Issue 143 - National Pay Bargaining – Notice of Industrial Action

  1. Further to Technical Note 119 on 25 July, the purpose of this technical note is to update Elected Members on the outcome of Ballots for Industrial Action undertaken by the Trade Unions.
     
  2. As previously advised, the ballot was targeted at those employees within schools Facilities Management (catering, cleaning and janitorial), Education Support (Early Year Workers, Support for Learning, School Admin) who are members of UNISON, GMB or Unite.
     

Technical Notes 2023, Issue 142 - Strategic Leadership Team Structure Update – September 2023

Following established recruitment and selection processes with the Chief Executive and the Depute Chief Executive, we are pleased to confirm the following appointments:

Technical Notes 2023, Issue 141 - School Registration: Change of Date

1. Each year, parents/carers within the East Dunbartonshire Council area are invited to register their children for either Primary School (P1) or Secondary School (S1).

For children being registered for Primary 1, or transferring from Primary 7 to Secondary (S1), this process occurs in January of each year.

These processes occur once per annum and are for children commencing P1 / S1 at the start of the following session (i.e., August).

The registration and transfer processes are performed by the parent/carer online via the Council website.

Technical Notes 2023, Issue 139 - Civic Government Appeals Board – 4 September 2023

1. The purpose of this Technical Note is to update Members in relation to the Civic Government Appeals Board (CGAB) meeting scheduled for 4 September 2023.  

2. Members are advised that there is no business for this meeting of the CGAB to consider. 

3. A cancellation notice will be issued and the meeting removed from Members diaries.

4. The next scheduled meeting of the CGAB is 10am on 30 October 2023, which will proceed subject to business.

Technical Notes 2023, Issue 137 - Council Tax Multiplier Consultation

  1. ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Published on the 12 July the Scottish Government and COSLA (on behalf of local government) are inviting responses to a consultation on a fairer council tax system, which concerns the Council Tax charges (also referred to as multipliers) for properties in valuation Bands E to H.  The consultation can be found on the Scottish Government Website [opens in a new window] with the approach being similar to that applied previously in 2017.
