If you wish to participate in the various local and national elections held across East Dunbartonshire you need to be listed on the Electoral Register. The responsibility for maintaining this Register sits with the Dunbartonshire and Argyll & Bute Valuation Joint Board.
This Board presides over the functions of Electoral Registration (including voting in person and absent voting - including postal, overseas and proxy voting) and the role of the Assessor - responsible for non-domestic valuation for rating, council tax valuation for domestic subjects

Electoral Canvass
To ensure that the correct details for you are held on on the Electoral Register, the Scottish Assessors Association undertake an annual canvass of all households in the Argyll and Bute, East Dunbartonshire and West Dunbartonshire each year between July and November.
If all individuals within your property match the records and the Scottish Assessors Association hold an email address for a member of your household, that person may receive an email communication. The subject of this email will be to: CHECK WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO BE REGISTERED TO VOTE AT YOUR ADDRESS.
- If you receive this email you MUST make a response
- Follow the link in the email and use the security codes supplied
- More instructions will be on the Interactive Voter Response webpage
If they do not hold an email address for a member of your household, you will receive a hard copy Canvass Communication form to check the details they hold for your property.
- If all is correct – you do not need to do anything
- If there have been any changes – you MUST respond by following the guidance on the form
