Shopping local has never been easier as two exhibitions selling unique Christmas gifts are running in East Dunbartonshire right up to Christmas.

The ever popular Christmas Art & Craft exhibition at the Auld Kirk Museum in Kirkintilloch and the always anticipated Christmas exhibition at the Lillie Art Gallery in Milngavie are open now until Wednesday 22 December.

At the Auld Kirk Museum, this year’s guest artist is Jenny Hunter. A diverse range of her paintings - all for sale - will be on show. These include beautiful, delicate flower paintings as well as her new series of Glasgow buildings.

She said, "Drawing is enormously important to me and underpins all my work. I enjoy using negative space in my drawings leaving room for interpretation. This can be seen prominently in my recent street drawings of Glasgow and my flower watercolour paintings. I love using colour, and especially enjoy contrasting tones such as rain-loaded skies in Scottish landscapes. My favourite mediums are oils and watercolours.’

At the Lillie Art Gallery, visitors will be able to enjoy the work of invited artists such as Michael Durning, Lesley Banks, Stanley Bird, Nicola Carberry and James Greer, to name but a few.

Jim Neill, Chair of the East Dunbartonshire Leisure & Culture Trust, said, "I am delighted that we are back with our Christmas exhibitions for 2021! They are sure to impress, giving visitors a day out to remember as well as plenty of opportunities to choose that special Christmas gift.

"The Gallery and Museum are jewels in East Dunbartonshire's crown and I urge local people to support them and the artists who have worked very hard to make the exhibitions so special. This is a great chance to enjoy some culture and start your Christmas shopping in the relaxing and festive atmosphere of these two fabulous buildings."
