Lennoxtown Library temporary opening hours

Date:
Monday, 15 August, 2022

New temporary opening hours will be in operation at Lennoxtown Library from this week.

The changes - which are expected to run from 15 August to 7 November 2022 - will see the library close at the earlier time of 5pm on a Wednesday, and shut between 12.30-1.30pm Tuesday to Friday.

Jim Neill, Chair of EDLC Trust, explained, "During this period all the usual services will be available at the library - borrowing books, audiobooks, accessing newspapers and magazines, free internet access, computer printing and free access to subscription-based information websites such as Ancestry.

"There is also a digital library which can be accessed from home - with ebooks, audiobooks and access to a wider range of subscription based information websites. Membership and most services are free.

"We recognise the impact the change in opening hours may have for some residents and apologise in advance for the inconvenience.

"The amended opening hours are only temporary while we recruit new library staff due to a number of unforeseen vacancies arising.

"I'd like to encourage people locally to apply for the vacancies. Libraries are a much-valued community resource, and working in your local library is both enjoyable and rewarding. The posts - known as Cultural Assistants - will be advertised on My job scotland and on our social media accounts."

EDLC has extensive digital library and cultural resources available to residents which can be accessed any time by visiting Libraries webpage
