Ninety-eight percent of East Dunbartonshire school leavers in 2024/25 went onto a positive destination; the highest percentage of young people across all Scottish local authority areas.

Determined by Skills Development Scotland, a positive destination is recorded for a school leaver entering employment, further or higher education, training or voluntary work.

For over a decade, the percentage of East Dunbartonshire pupils going onto a positive destination after school has remained in the top three nationally.

By providing the highest standard of education, a curriculum that meets the needs of all our young people and by working in partnership with learners, their families, training and further education providers, East Dunbartonshire schools have successfully led our young people into pathways towards fulfilling and rewarding careers, for many years.
Councillor Lynda Williamson, Convener of Education

"There is no one-size-fits-all for our young people. Our schools strive to ensure that school leavers have options to allow them to meet their own individual ambitions, whether that be through an apprenticeship or training, paid employment or further education at college or university.

“As Education Convener I am extremely proud of the achievements of our schools and I’d like to congratulate all of our teachers and school staff who work so hard to ensure every young person leaves school prepared with the skills and tools needed to pursue their personal goals.”
