Among the many strengths at Colquhoun Park, the inspection team highlighted the following:

  • The headteacher, depute headteacher and staff team develop positive and nurturing relationships with children. They have a shared understanding of wellbeing and its importance for children’s security, achievement and learning. This helps children to participate well with learning and achieve success.
  • Children are polite, articulate and motivated to learn. They are proud of their school and feel included in making decisions about school life.
  • Staff work very effectively with a range of partner agencies to provide children with support and experiences which meet children’s needs well. This helps children to develop their social skills, wellbeing and resilience. Across the school, this is leading to improved outcomes for all children.

“This report is a major boost for the whole school community and I’m thrilled that so many strengths have been highlighted as it is clear how hard everyone works to give the young people a positive learning experience. I enjoyed my visit to Colquhoun Park Primary and Early Years Centre and wish them the very best for the year ahead. Well done to everyone involved!”

Headteacher, Claire Loney said, “This is a positive report for our school and early years centre and I am delighted that the inspectors recognise the nurturing, respectful relationships that we have across our whole school community. We have a welcoming ethos where we strive to promote positive wellbeing and children’s rights are at the heart of all we do.

“Our primary pupils are motivated, inquisitive and hardworking. They are rightly proud to belong to our Colquhoun Park family and this was commented on as a key strength of our school. As a learning community we are committed to raising attainment and will continue to develop our approaches to ensure high quality learning and teaching for all.

“Our Early Years Centre has rightly been praised for our commitment to creating an environment filled with wonder and curiosity where our youngest learners thrive. I am incredibly proud of all we have achieved and excited for more success in the years to come. ”
