Anyone who would like to receive care and support will be assessed in the first instance. An assessment must be carried out to find out what help and support is needed. This is a free service and is carried out by a health and social care professional, who will contact the person who has requested care at home and will then arrange for an assessment to be carried out.

To request an assessment, please either phone us on the number above, or send us an email at Customer Services.

Care at home can help you with:

  • Washing and dressing;
  • Preparing meals and eating;
  • Taking medication;
  • Going to the toilet;
  • Getting up and going to bed.

Care at home can also provide you with:

  • A short term Care at Home Re-ablement Service;
  • A long term Care at Home  Service for people with complex needs such as dementia, long term conditions, mental health problems or end of life care;
  • A long term service for people with relatively straight forward needs;
  • An overnight service between the hours of 10.30pm and 7.30am.

Paying for Care at Home

Free personal care is now available to under 65s who have been assessed as needing it.

Self-Directed Support

Self- Directed Support (SDS) allows people to choose how their support is provided, and gives them as much control as they want of their individual budget. You can find out more by clicking the link to our SDS page.

Advocacy is a way to help you to make your voice stronger and to have as much control as possible over your own life. Advocacy workers will help you get the information you need to make good choices, and give you the help you need to express yourself clearly.

In East Dunbartonshire, independent advocacy is provided by Ceartas. Independent advocacy is there to help you decide what you want to say and then support you to say it.

Independent Advocacy can support you in situations such as formal or legal processes, and can also find you legal advice.
