I hope you’ve all been enjoying the lovely weather we’ve had and if you’ve been away, I hope you’ve had a fantastic time.
It’s been another busy month for everyone at the Council. Campsie Memorial Hall was officially opened by the Provost following a £2.279m refurbishment. The Hall is a fantastic asset to Lennoxtown and will continue to be used by the community for years to come.
The civic space in Bishopbriggs continues to progress well and work has begun on the new Milngavie Early Years Centre. Milngavie Primary school pupils and teachers will also be returning to a newly refurbished school next week.
A huge thanks to everyone involved in these projects.
Climate Action Plan approved
Council has approved the Climate Action Plan, which sets out a framework to achieve net zero, improve resilience to the ongoing effects of climate change and support sustainable development. We’re also setting up a Community Climate Change Forum for East Dunbartonshire residents to share their views on climate action. Strong exam results for East Dunbartonshire pupils
The waiting game is over for hundreds of pupils waiting for their exam results. It was another strong performance for students across our schools. For National 5 exams 82.7% of pupils achieved A, B or C grades, for Highers it was 82.6% and for Advanced Higher the figure was 77.0%. The National 5 and Higher results are an improvement on 2025 figures and Advanced Higher results are on a par with last year.
Well done to everyone who worked so hard for these results and to their families and teachers who supported them.
EDLC offer to Council employees
East Dunbartonshire Leisure & Culture Trust is offering all Council and EDLC Trust employees a special deal to join their Corporate All Inclusive Leisure Membership.
Employees can take advantage of a special reduced rate annual membership of £374.90 – the equivalent of 12 months for the price of 10 - if they pay in a lump sum. In addition, the usual £20 joining fee will be waived. This offer is also available to existing employees who currently have a direct debit membership and would like to take advantage of this special promotion and switch to an annual membership.

Compassionate East Dunbartonshire was launched early this year and has created a platform from which examples of kindness and wellbeing from across East Dunbartonshire can be recognised, celebrated and promoted. Compassionate East Dunbartonshire is a network that promotes community activities, community news and celebrates examples of positive community spirit. And finally….
Well done to Andy Wilkinson in our Regeneration team for completing the Verbier Marathon last month. This is a tough mountain trail running race in the Swiss Alps covering a total of 43km with around 3100m of elevation gain. The race starts in the village of Bruson and follows a series of winding mountainous paths to the top of Mont Rogneux, the highest point at 3084m. I can only imagine the level of dedication and commitment to training that is needed to complete a challenge like this. Well done!
