There’s an extra spring in the step of pupils and staff at Colquhoun Park Primary and Early Years Centre in Bearsden as they start the new term, following news of a positive inspection report.
Inspectors visited in April and published their report just before the end of the school year in June, giving the following evaluations on what they found:

Among the many strengths at Colquhoun Park Primary, the inspection team highlighted the following:
- The headteacher, depute headteacher and staff team develop positive and nurturing relationships with children. They have a shared understanding of wellbeing and its importance for children’s security, achievement and learning. This helps children to participate well with learning and achieve success
- Children are polite, articulate and motivated to learn. They are proud of their school and feel included in making decisions about school life
- Staff work very effectively with a range of partner agencies to provide children with support and experiences which meet children’s needs well. This helps children to develop their social skills, wellbeing and resilience. Across the school, this is leading to improved outcomes for all children.
And at the Early Years Centre, they commented on:
- Highly skilled leaders and staff work together effectively, supporting strong practice and positive outcomes for children and families
- Staff support nurturing relationships between children and families through skilled, caring interactions, high-quality mealtimes and strong personal planning
- Children engage effectively in motivating learning experiences indoors and outdoors. They are developing their independence and confidence very well. Children enjoy exploring and being creative as they play and learn. They are happy, settled and secure in the early years centre
- Staff have a strong understanding of the needs of all children. They plan activities which are well-matched to each individual’s needs and interests. As a result, children are making very good progress in their learning and development.
Councillor Lynda Williamson, Convener of the Council’s Education Committee went along to meet the children and staff to congratulate them on their achievements.
