Provost Gillian Renwick attended a springtime celebration at Gavin’s Mill in Milngavie on the community project’s ninth anniversary.

The Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation runs an ethical shop and community café selling and serving goods that are Fair trade, sustainable and local.  The team also hosts a variety of community events throughout year – talks, workshops and music – to support the charity and its aims.

Despite some challenges over the years, including flooding and the COVID-19 pandemic, the hardworking team, dedicated volunteers and loyal customers have kept Gavin’s Mill going; and the Provost joined them in celebrating their success.

Provost Renwick said, “I always enjoy visiting the staff and volunteers at Gavin Mill, they are such a welcoming and enthusiastic bunch who know how to throw a party! I had a great time chatting to everyone and congratulating them on their hard work over the years. Gavin’s Mill is a fantastic community project, if you haven’t paid it a visit you really should pop in for a coffee and a wee browse in the shop; you won’t be disappointed.”

At the anniversary celebration, the Gavin’s Mill team launched their ‘Friends of Gavin’s Mill’ project, whereby supporters pay a regular donation to receive a variety of benefits. You can find out how to become a friend of Gavin’s Mill on the Friends of Gavin's Mill website.
