Details: 
  1. The Council is about to begin work on its next Local Development Plan (LDP) – to be known as LDP3. Full details can be found in Council report PNCA/042/23/HH. The current Local Development Plan – LDP2 – was adopted in November 2022 and will remain in place until LDP3 is fully approved (expected by early 2028).
     
  2. The LDP3 will set out a long-term vision for where development should and should not happen. It will address key issues such as:
  • Addressing climate change
  • Delivering high-quality places to live
  • Attracting new jobs and investment
  • Supporting town centres
  • Protecting the historic and natural environment.
  1. In accordance with the Planning (Scotland) Act 2019, communities and stakeholders will be invited to comment on the draft Participation Statement, which sets out a programme of engagement at various stages, and which forms part of the overall Development Plan Scheme (DPS).  In particular, views will be sought on methods of communication, engagement activities, materials, new Local Place Plans and how to balance areas of potential conflict and dispute.
     
  2. The consultation will commence on Tuesday, 16 May 2023 and the deadline for responses is 27 June 2023.
     
  3. Full information will be made available on the LDP3 Page of the Council website, which will go live from Tuesday, 16 May 2023.
     
  4. The website will include an online survey, which will include a series of questions on the Participation Statement together with an opportunity to comment on the LDP3 preparation process more generally. In addition to the online survey, comments can also be provided by:
  1. A number of information sessions have been organised, to be delivered by the Council’s Land Planning Policy team:
  • Bishopbriggs War Memorial Hall – Thursday, 8 June – 6.30-8pm
  • Bearsden Hall (above Bearsden Community Hub) – Monday, 12 June – 7.15-8.45pm
  • Online (link will be supplied in advance) – Monday, 19 June – 5pm-6.30pm
  1. These sessions will provide an overview of the Participation Statement, LDP3 timetable and preparation process in general. It will also cover Local Place Plans and the invitation for local communities to prepare these.
