NOTICE OF THE PROPOSED EAST DUNBARTONSHIRE COUNCIL (STATION ROAD, LENNOXTOWN) (REDETERMINATION OF MEANS OF PASSAGE TO BE BY PEDAL CYCLE AND FOOT ONLY) ORDER 20XX

Notice is hereby given that the East Dunbartonshire Council proposes to make an Order under Sections 1(1) and 152(2) of the Roads (Scotland) Act 1984 to redetermine the means of the public right of passage over the lengths of roads as described in the Schedule hereto.

The title of the proposed order is the East Dunbartonshire Council  (Station Road, Lennoxtown) (Redetermination of means of passage to be by pedal cycle and foot only) Order 20XX.

A copy of the proposed order and the accompanying plan showing the lengths of road over which the means of exercise of the public right of passage is to be redetermined, together with a statement of reasons for proposing to make this Order, are available for inspection without payment of fee:

• On the Roads section of the East Dunbartonshire Council website. Telephone Enquiries to: 0300 123 4510; and
• At William Patrick Library, 2-4 West High Street, Kirkintilloch (Mon – Thu 10am to 8pm, Fri – Sat 10am to 5pm); and
• At Lennoxtown Library, 46 Main Street, Lennoxtown, G66 7JJ (Mon, Wed 10am to 8pm, Tue, Thu, Fri 10am to 5pm).

Any person wishing to object to the proposal should send details of the grounds for objection by email to TROconsultation@eastdunbarton.gov.uk or in writing to Legal Services, 12 Strathkelvin Place, Kirkintilloch, G66 1TJ by no later than Monday 14 September 2026.

Redetermination of means of access to be by way of pedal cycle and foot only.

THE EAST DUNBARTONSHIRE COUNCIL (STATION ROAD, LENNOXTOWN)  (REDETERMINATION OF MEANS OF PASSAGE TO BE BY PEDAL CYCLE AND FOOT ONLY) ORDER 20XX

East Dunbartonshire Council in exercise of the powers conferred on them by section 1(1) and 152(2) of the Roads (Scotland) Act 1984 and all other enabling powers hereby make the following Order.

• This Order may be cited as “The East Dunbartonshire Council (Station Road, Lennoxtown) (Redetermination of Means of Passage to be by Pedal Cycle and Foot Only) Order 20XX” and shall come into operation on XXXX;
• In this Order the following expressions have the meanings hereby assigned to them:-

“Cycle track” has the same meaning as that given in Section 151 of the Roads (Scotland) Act 1984; and

“Pedal cycle” has the same meaning as that given in Section 151 of the Roads (Scotland) Act 1984

• The lengths of road specified in the Schedule to this Order, which at present comprise sections of footway and carriageway, will be redetermined to establish a shared use path with the right of passage being exercisable on pedal cycle and foot only.

Statement of Reasons for Proposing to Make the Above Order.

It is considered necessary to make the above order in the interests of road safety for some of the most vulnerable road users (i.e., those walking, wheeling and cycling) by providing dedicated space away from the carriageway for travelling in this way. This order is associated with the Lennoxtown Main Street Active Travel Project.
