THE EAST DUNBARTONSHIRE COUNCIL
(VARIOUS ROADS, KIRKINTILLOCH) (20 MPH SPEED LIMIT) ORDER 2026
On Tuesday, 12 May 2026 the East Dunbartonshire Council made the above Order under s84 of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984 which Order comes into operation on Monday, 06 July 2026.
The proposed Order was advertised in the edition of the Kirkintilloch Herald published on 25 August 2025. The Order has been made without modifications to the proposed Order as advertised. The main effect of the Order will be the introduction of a 20-mph speed limit on the entire length or part of the length of those roads in Kirkintilloch listed in Schedule 1 below.
A copy of the Order and plan detailing the lengths of road affected may be examined without payment of fee on the Traffic Regulation Orders page of the East Dunbartonshire Council website and at the offices of: -
- Roads & Environment, Broomhill Industrial Estate, Kilsyth Road, Kirkintilloch, G66 1TF. Telephone Enquiries to 0300-123-4510 between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday; and
- William Patrick Library, 2-4 West High Street, Kirkintilloch (Mon – Thu 10am to 8pm, Fri – Sat 10am – 5pm).
Any person wishing to question the validity of the Order or any provision therein on grounds that the Order is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, or on the grounds that any requirement of that Act or of any relevant Regulation made thereunder has not been complied with in relation to the Order may, within 6 weeks from 12 May 2026, make an application to the Court of Session for this purpose.

THE EAST DUNBARTONSHIRE COUNCIL(VARIOUS ROADS, KIRKINTILLOCH) (20 MPH SPEED LIMIT) ORDER 2026
The East Dunbartonshire Council, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by Section 84 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (“the Act”) and of all other enabling powers, and after consultation with the Chief Constable of the Police Service of Scotland in accordance with Part III and IV of Schedule 9 to the Act, hereby make the following Order.
- This Order may be cited as “The East Dunbartonshire Council (Various Roads, Kirkintilloch) (20 mph Speed Limit) Order 2026” and shall come into operation on 06 July 2026
- In this Order the following expressions have the meanings hereby assigned to them: -
“vehicle”, unless the context otherwise requires, means a vehicle of any description and includes a machine or implement of any kind drawn or propelled along roads, whether or not by mechanical power - No person shall drive any vehicle at a speed exceeding 20 mph on the lengths of road specified in Schedules 1 and 2 to this Order.

- That length of the A803 Glasgow Road which extends from its junction with Hayston Road eastwards to its junction with Peel Park roundabout
- That length of the A803 Glasgow Rd/Kilsyth Rd which extends from a point 110 metres or thereby west of its junction with Milton Road eastwards to its junction with Crossgate
- That length of the A803 Kilsyth Road which extends from its junction with Lanfine Drive north-eastwards for a distance of 704 metres or thereby
- That length of the A806 New Lairdsland Road/Rochdale Place which extends from its junction with Broadcroft south-eastwards for a distance of 270 metres or thereby
