THE EAST DUNBARTONSHIRE COUNCIL
(VARIOUS ROADS, BISHOPBRIGGS) (20 MPH SPEED LIMIT) ORDER 2026

On Tuesday, 12 May 2026 the East Dunbartonshire Council made an Order under s84 of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, which Order comes into operation on Monday, 06 July 2026.

The proposed Order was advertised in the edition of the Bishopbriggs Herald published on 29 July 2025. The main effect of the Order will be the introduction of a 20-mph speed limit on the entire length or part of the length of those roads in Bishopbriggs listed in Schedule 1 below.

A modification has been made to both Schedule 1 and Schedule 2 of the proposed Order setting out lengths of road in Bishopbriggs to which the 20mph speed limit will apply. The proposed Order stated at Schedule 1 that the 20mph speed limit would apply to the entire length of Crosshill Road. This has been removed from the Order and Schedule 2 of the Order, as made, now applies the 20mph speed limit to that length of Crosshill Road, Bishopbriggs which extends from its junction with the A803 Kirkintilloch Road at Cadder Roundabout north-eastwards for a distance of 140 metres or thereby to Low Moss Roundabout, Bishopbriggs at the most southern access to Strathkelvin Retail Park, Bishopbriggs.

A copy of the Order as modified and plan detailing the lengths of road affected may be examined without payment of fee on the Traffic Regulation Orders page of the East Dunbartonshire Council website and at the offices of: -

  • Roads & Environment, Broomhill Industrial Estate, Kilsyth Road, Kirkintilloch, G66 1TF. Telephone Enquiries to 0300-123-4510 between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday; and
  • Bishopbriggs Library and Hub, 170 Kirkintilloch Road, Bishopbriggs, G64 2LX (Mon-Thu 10am to 8pm; Fri-Sat 10am to 5pm).

Any person wishing to question the validity of the Order or any provision therein on grounds that the Order is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, or on the grounds that any requirement of that Act or of any relevant Regulation made thereunder has not been complied with in relation to the Order may, within 6 weeks from 12 May 2026, make an application to the Court of Session for this purpose.
