Notice

The East Dunbartonshire Council in terms of Section 23(2) (b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 hereby gives notice of its intention to establish, alter, or remove a Pedestrian Crossing as follows:

A809 DRYMEN ROAD AND ITS JUNCTION WITH STATION ROAD BEARSDEN

The new puffin crossing will be installed to assist pedestrians crossing the main A809 Drymen Road at its junction with Station Road, Bearsden. East Dunbartonshire Council will also be removing the existing pedestrian crossing currently on the A809 Drymen Road at the railway bridge between the junctions with Station Road and Ledcameroch Road. Works will be carried out to signalise the junction of the A809 Drymen Road and Station Road, which will include all around pedestrian crossings.

Statement of Reasons

  • The existing pedestrian crossing is beyond economic repair.
  • Changes to traffic patterns make it sensible to signalise the junction.
  • The works will also tackle the flooding issue at the adjacent premises.

The full installation includes all the civil engineering works, such as the provision of dropped kerbs, tactile paving, cable ducting, pedestrian barriers and footway surfacing.  These works will begin on 4th August 2025 and are expected to be completed in approximately 6-8 weeks.

To establish new crossings at:

  • DRYMEN ROAD, BEARSDEN - Puffin crossing approximately 20m northwest of the A809 Drymen Road and Puffin crossing approximately 20m southwest of the A809 Drymen Road
  • STATION ROAD, BEARSDEN - Puffin crossing approximately 20m west on Station Road

Note- ‘Zig Zag’ markings will be installed at either side of the crossing which will prohibit stopping on the approach/exit of the crossing.

To remove a crossing at:

  • A809 DRYMEN ROAD, BEARSDEN    PUFFIN CROSSING ON A809 DRYMEN ROAD AT RAILWAY BRIDGE
