Road closures and roadworks

• Reason for emergency closure: Scottish Water is presently carrying out emergency works to a burst water 
• Town: Bearsden
• Road affected: the A810 Duntocher Road at its junction with Ledi Drive.
• Duration: These works are expected to be in place for approximately one week from today 24 July 2025
• Notes: In order for the works to be carried out in a safe manner, the existing traffic signals have been switched off and temporary four way traffic signals incorporating pedestrian crossing facilities are presently being used to control movements on Duntocher Road at its junction with Ledi Drive and Nithsdale Crescent, Bearsden.  
  
  The temporary traffic signals are being manually controlled between 7am and 7pm, each day.  The use of temporary traffic signals may result in delays to traffic in the area.

• Reason for emergency closure: Emergency SPEN cable fault repairs.

• Road affected: Crowhill Road, between its junctions with the A803 Kirkintilloch Road and Emerson Road West, Bishopbriggs.
• Duration: 8am on Monday 14 July 2025 until 6pm on

• Notes: Access to the closed section of road will only be maintained for vehicles engaged in the works and those vehicles requiring access to properties and land adjacent to the closed section of road when its safe and practical to do so during the works.  There will be no access for emergency service vehicles through the closed section of road.
  

  Alternative routes, Vehicles on the north side of the closure should proceed southwestwards then southwards on the A803 Kirkintilloch Road then eastwards on Colston Road then northwards and eastwards on the B812 Auch-inairn Road then northwards on Crowhill Road to the south side of the closure.

• Reason for closure: EDC footway resurfacing works on Rosslyn Road.

• Road affected: Crowhill Road, between its junctions with the A803 Kirkintilloch Road and Emerson Road West, Bishopbriggs.

• Reason for closure: A contractor is to carry out a new water connection associated with Balmuildy Primary School,
• Town: Bishopbriggs
• Road affected: Stirling Drive from its junction with Southesk Avenue and its junction with Tofthill Avenue
• Duration: 6am on Monday 21 July 2025 until 6pm on 
  Friday 25 July 2025
• Notes: Access to the closed section of road will only be maintained for emergency service vehicles, vehicles engaged in the works and those vehicles requiring access to properties  when its safe and practical to do so during the works.
  

  Alternative routes will be by of Faskally Avenue, Stirling Drive, Tofthill Avenue, Southesk Avenue, and Balmuildy Road, Bishopbriggs, and these routes will be sign posted. 

• Reason for closure: Contractor carrying out various groundworks including the formation of a new access. These works are associated with the new Cala Housing Development presently under construction. There are also repairs being carried out on the existing former railway bridge on Chryston Road, due to corrosion discovered during the site investigation
• Road affected: Chryston Road, Fauldhead, at a location to the east of its junction with Market Road, Kirkintilloch
• Duration: Sunday 22 September 2024 until 6pm on 17 September 2025
• Notes: In order to prevent danger to the public arising from damage to the structural integrity of the bridge over the former railway bridge and for the works to be carried out in a safe manner, East Dunbartonshire Council will require to extend the existing temporary road closure on Chryston Road Fauldhead, between its junctions with Market Road, Kirkintilloch, and Sauchenhall Road/Muckcroft Road from 6pm on Sunday 22 September 2024 until 6pm on Friday 31 March 2025
  Alternative routes are be by of Sauchenhall Road, Gartshore Road, Mollins Road, the B8048 Waterside Road, Market Road, Kirkintilloch, Calfmuir Road, and Muckcroft Road, and these routes are presently being sign posted

• Reason for closure: Kirkintilloch Town Centre Event
• Town: Kirkintilloch
• Roads affected: Cowgate, West High Street, Union Street, David Donnelly Place, and Broadcroft
• Notes:

A section of Cowgate and West High Street will be closed between their respective junctions with Catherine Street/Kerr Street and Achill Place, from 12.01am on Friday 15 August 2025 until 6am on Monday 18 August 2025. The alternative routes for vehicles are by way of Catherine Street, Cowgate, Townhead, Parliament Road, the A806 New Lairdsland Road, the A803 Glasgow Road, and West High Street, Kirkintilloch, and these routes will be sign posted.

A section of Union Street will be closed between its junctions with Cowgate and York Place, from 12.01am on Friday 15 August 2025 until 6am on Monday 18 August 2025. The alternative routes will be sign posted by way of Kerr Street, Oxford Street, Union Street and Washington Road.

A section of David Donnelly Place will be closed, from its junction with Cowgate, northeastwards for a distance of 30 metres or thereby, from 12.01am on Friday 15 August 2025 until 6am on Monday 18 August 2025. There are no alternative routes available.

Broadcroft will be closed between its junctions with Cowgate and David Donnelly Place, from 12.01am on Friday 15 August 2025 until 6am on Monday 18 August 2025. There are no alternative routes available.

Access to the closed sections of road will only be maintained for emergency service vehicles, vehicles engaged in the works and those vehicles requiring access to properties and land adjacent to the closed section of road when its safe and practical to do so during the event activities.

As part of the Kirkintilloch Town Centre Event, East Dunbartonshire Council also require to temporarily suspend the existing one way operation, on the following section of road, contained within the provisions of Schedule 17 of the "East Dunbartonshire Council (Kirkintilloch) (Traffic Management Scheme) Order 2017, under the heading for Broadcroft, from the extended northeast kerbline of Cowgate northeastwards to the extended southwest kerbline of David Donnelly Place. This will allow two way operation on the above named road, which will be controlled by way of banksmen/event traffic management operatives.

Alternative routes, will be by way of Gallowhill Road, Elm Avenue, Beech Road, and Marguerite Avenue, Lenzie, and these routes will be sign posted.

• Duration: From 6am on Monday 18 August 2025 until 6pm on Friday 22 August 2025

• Road affected: Tannoch Drive, between its junctions with Loch Road and Heathfield Drive, Milngavie

  Alternative routes will be by way of Tannoch Drive, Buchanan Street, Moor Road, the A81 Strathblane Road, Milngavie, the C56, Mugdock Road, Ellangowan Road, Woodburn Way and Station Road, Milngavie, and these routes will be sign posted.  

  As part of the above works, temporary two way traffic signals will also be used to control traffic movements on Tannoch Drive at its junction with Heathfield Drive, Milngavie.

• Road affected: Main Street, between its junctions with the B8023 Shirva Road and MacDonald Crescent, Twechar

• Reason for temporary traffic management: EDC Roads Operations is to carry out footway resurfacing works

• Road affected: Rosslyn Road between its junctions with Nithsdale Crescent and Eagle Crescent
• Duration: 9.30am on Monday 23 June 2025 for approximately five weeks during the school summer holidays
• Notes: In order for the works to be carried out in a safe manner, rolling temporary four way traffic signals will be used to control traffic movements.

• Road affected: B757 Birdston Road at the access road to Birdston Kennels

• Notes: In order for the works to be carried out in a safe manner, temporary three way traffic signals will be used to control traffic movements.The temporary traffic signals will be manually controlled at all times.

• Reason for temporary traffic management: Various works associated with an existing telecoms mast 
• Town: Bishopbriggs
• Road affected: Balmuildy Road near its junction with Hilton Terrace
• Duration: 9.30am on Tuesday 26 August 2025 for approximately four days and also from 9.30am on Monday 8 September 2025 for approximately three days
• Notes:  The existing pedestrian crossing facility will require to be switched off and temporary four way traffic signals incorporating a pedestrian crossing facility will be used to control traffic movements on Balmuildy Road at its junctions with Hilton Terrace and Bishopbriggs Leisuredrome.

• Reason for temporary traffic management: Scottish Water is to carry out repairs to damaged ironwork 
• Town: Bishopbriggs
• Road affected: South Crosshill Road near its junction the A803 Kirkintilloch Road
• Duration: 9.30am until 6pm on Tuesday 5 August 2025, during the school summer holidays
• Notes: In order for the works to be carried out in a safe manner, the existing traffic signals will  require to be switched off and temporary three way traffic signals incorporating pedestrian crossing facilities will be used to control traffic movements. The temporary traffic signals will be manually controlled between 7am and 7pm, each day.

• Duration: from 9.30am on Monday 28 July 2025 for approximately two weeks, during the school summer holidays
• Notes: In order for the works to be carried out in a safe manner, the existing pedestrian crossing facility will require to be switched off and temporary five way traffic signals incorporating pedestrian crossing facilities will be used to control traffic movements on Redbrae Road at its junctions with the most northern access to Kenilworth Road, Newdyke Road, and Waverley Park, Kirkintilloch. The temporary traffic signals will be manually controlled between 7am and 7pm, each day. Advance warning notification signs will be erected on street one week prior to the start of the works.

• Reason for temporary traffic management: SPEN is to carry out cabling works

• Road affected: Boghead Road between its junctions with Spruce Drive and Maple Drive
• Duration: 9.30am on Monday 7 July 2025 for approximately three weeks
• Notes: In order for the works to be carried out in a safe manner, the existing pedestrian crossing facility will require to be switched off and rolling temporary three way traffic signals incorporating pedestrian crossing facilities as required will be used. The temporary traffic signals will be manually controlled between 7am and 7pm, each day.

• Temporary traffic management: Temporary Waiting and Loading Restriction Except School Buses
• Town: Torrance
• Road affected: Main Street
• Duration: Thursday 14 August 2025 until Friday 12 February 2027 and will be effective between 8.30am and 9.30am and between 2.30pm and 3.30pm, Monday to Friday
• Notes: On Tuesday, 29 July 2025 the East Dunbartonshire Council made a Temporary Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 which makes it unlawful for any person to cause or permit any vehicle, with the exception of school buses, to wait or load or unload in the length of road specified in the Schedule by reason of the likelihood of danger to the public, as school buses will be dropping off school pupils due to the temporary decant of pupils from Milngavie Primary School to Torrance Primary School. 

Reason for footpath closure: Scottish Water is to carry out water main replacement works
Town: Kirkintilloch 
Road affected: Unnamed public footpath adjacent to Freeland Place/Luggiebank Road, Kirkintilloch.
Duration: 6am on Monday 23 June until 6pm on Sunday 3 August 2025
Notes: In order for the works to be carried out in a safe manner, a section of the existing footpath will require to be closed between Freeland Place/Luggiebank Road northeastwards for a distance of 55 metres or thereby at the existing underpass beneath the A806 New Lairdsland Road, Kirkintilloch, which runs adjacent to the Forth and Clyde Canal, from 06.00 hours on Monday 23 June 2025 until 18.00 hours on Sunday 3 August 2025.

Alternative routes for pedestrian will be by way of existing footpath network within Luggie Park, the existing underpass near the A806 Initiative Road/Parliament Road, existing footways on Parliament Road, Townhead, and Freeland Place, Kirkintilloch, and these routes will be sign posted.

• Reason for footpath closure: Scottish Water is to carry out water main replacement works

• Road affected: Unnamed public footpath adjacent to Freeland Place/Luggiebank Road, Kirkintilloch.
  
• Duration: 6am on Monday 11 August 2025 until 6pm on Sunday 21 September 2025
• Notes: In order for the works to be carried out in a safe manner, a section of the existing footpath will require to be closed between Freeland Place/Luggiebank Road northeastwards for a distance of 55 metres or thereby at the existing underpass beneath the A806 New Lairdsland Road, Kirkintilloch, which runs adjacent to the Forth and Clyde Canal
