Important announcement

Due to operational issues we have had to suspend our food waste collection service for a number of streets in the Kessington area of Bearsden on Friday 20 February. To find out more and see a full list of affected streets, visit the bin collection suspension page.

Emergency road works

  • Reason for emergency road works: Scottish Water is presently carrying out emergency repairs to a burst water main
  • Town: Bearsden
  • Road affected: Canniesburn Road at its junction with Annick Drive
  • Duration: Thursday 19 February for approximately one week
  • Notes: In order for the works to be carried out in a safe manner, temporary four way traffic signals are being used to control traffic movements on Canniesburn Road at its junction with Annick Drive and Spey Road. The temporary traffic signals are being manually controlled between 7am and 7pm, each day.  

  • Reason for emergency road works: Scottish Water is presently carrying out emergency repairs to a burst 
  • Town: Kirkintilloch
  • Road affected: Waterside Road east of its junction with Bankhead Road
  • Duration: Thursday 19 February 2026 for approximately one week
  • Notes: In order for the works to be carried out in a safe manner, temporary two way traffic signals are being used to control traffic movements on Waterside Road at the works location.  The temporary traffic signals are being manually controlled between 7am and 7pm, each day. 

  • Reason for emergency road works: Scottish Water is presently carrying out emergency repairs to a burst water main 
  • Town: Milngavie
  • Road affected: Craigton Road near the vehicular access to Douglas Academy
  • Duration: Started Wednesday 18 February and expected to be in place for approximately one week
  • Notes: In order for the works to be carried out in a safe manner, temporary two way traffic signals are being used to control traffic movements on Craigton Road at the works location. The temporary traffic signals are being manually controlled at peak times, each day.  

  • Reason for emergency road works: Scottish Water is presently carrying out emergency repairs to a burst water main

  • Road affected: A81 Glasgow Road at its junction with Station Road, Baldernock Road and Strathblane Road
  • Duration: Wednesday 18 February for approximately one week
  • Notes: In order for the works to be carried out in a safe manner, the existing traffic signals have been switched off and temporary four way traffic signals incorporating pedestrian crossing facilities are being used to control traffic movements on Glasgow Road at its junction with Station Road, Baldernock Road and Strathblane Road, Milngavie. The temporary traffic signals are being manually controlled between 7am and 7pm, each day

  • Reason for emergency road works: Scottish Water is presently carrying out emergency works to a pressure regulation valve
  • Town: Milngavie
  • Road affected: A809 Stockiemuir Road at its junction with Douglas Muir Road, at Crossburn Roundabout
  • Duration: Monday 16 February till the end of the week 
  • Notes: In order for the works to be carried out in a safe manner, temporary four way traffic signals are being used to control traffic movements on Stockiemuir Road at its junctions with Douglas Muir Road and the vehicular access to the Quarry at Crossburn Roundabout, Milngavie. The temporary traffic signals are being manually controlled between 7am and 7pm, each day.

  • Reason for emergency road works: Scottish Water is presently carrying out emergency repairs to a burst water main 
  • Town: Torrance
  • Road affected: B822 Campsie Road near its junction with MacGillivray Avenue, Torrance
  • Duration: Thursday 19 February for approximately one week
  • Notes: In order for the works to be carried out in a safe manner, the existing pedestrian crossing has been switched off and temporary two way traffic signals incorporating a pedestrian crossing facility are being used to control traffic movements on Campsie Road at the works location. The temporary traffic signals are being manually controlled between 7am and 7pm, each day.

  • Road affected: Carseview Drive, between its junction with Kilmardinny Avenue and the existing turning head facility
  • Duration: from 6am on Sunday 22 February 2026 until 6pm on Sunday 1 March 2026
  • Notes: There are no alternative routes. Access to the closed section of road will only be maintained for emergency service vehicles, vehicles engaged in the works and those vehicles requiring access to properties and land adjacent to the closed section of road when its safe and practical to do so during the works.

  • Reason for closure: To assist with Council carriageway resurfacing works on Carseview Drive, Bearsden, for plant and vehicles.
  • Town: Bearsden
  • Road affected: Kilmardinny Avenue between its junctions with the A81 Milngavie Road and its junction with Burnbrae Avenue
  • Duration: from 6am on Monday 23 February until 6pm on Friday 27 February 2026
  • Notes: Access to the closed section of road will only be maintained for emergency service vehicles, vehicles engaged in the works and those vehicles requiring access to properties adjacent to the closed section of road when its safe and practical to do so during the works. Alternative routes will be by way of the A81 Milngavie Road, Mosshead Road, Burnbrae Avenue, 
    Kilmardinny Avenue, and Manse Road, Bearsden, and these routes will be sign posted.

  • Reason for closure: Lining refurbishing works
  • Town: Bearsden
  • Road affected: Ralston Road between its junctions with A809 Drymen Road and its junction with Gartconnell Road
  • Duration: from 6am on Monday 16 February until 6pm on Friday 20 February 2026
  • Notes: Access to the closed section of road will only be maintained for emergency service vehicles, vehicles engaged in the works and those vehicles requiring access to properties adjacent to the closed section of road when its safe and practical to do so during the works. Alternative routes will be by way of the A809 Drymen Road, Gartconnell Drive, and Gartconnell Road, Bearsden, and these routes will be sign posted.  

  • Reason for closure: East Dunbartonshire Council Roads Service is to carry out carriageway resurfacing works 
  • Road affected: B819 Crosshill Road, Bishopbriggs, between the most northern vehicular access to Strathkelvin Retail Park at the existing traffic signals and the vehicular access to Burger King at Low Moss Roundabout, Bishopbriggs
  • Duration: from 6pm on Sunday 22 March 2026 until 6pm hours on Sunday 29 March 2026
  • Notes: Access to the closed section of road will only be maintained for emergency service vehicles, vehicles engaged in the works and those vehicles requiring access to properties and land adjacent to the closed section of road when its safe and practical to do so during the works. Alternative routes will be by way of the B819 Crosshill Road, Cole Road and the A803 Kirkintilloch Road, Bishopbriggs, and these routes will be sign posted. 

  • Reason for closure: East Dunbartonshire Council Roads Service is to carry out carriageway resurfacing works 
  • Road affected: South Crosshill Road between its junction with the A803 Kirkintilloch Road and its junction with Wester Cleddens Road

  • Reason for closure: SPEN is to carry out cabling works
  • Road affected: Kenmure Gardens, Bishopbriggs, between its junctions with Brackenbrae Road and Pollok Drive, Bishopbriggs
  • Duration: 6am on Monday 23 March 2026 until 6pm on Friday 3 April 2026
  • Notes: 

    Alternative routes will be by way of Brackenbrae Road, Kenmure Avenue, Pollok Drive and Brackenbrae Avenue, Bishopbriggs, and these routes will be sign posted. 

    Access to the closed section of road will only be maintained for emergency service vehicles, vehicles engaged in the works and those vehicles requiring access to properties and land adjacent to the closed section of road when its safe and practical to do so during the works.

  • Reason for closure: East Dunbartonshire Council Roads Service is to carry out carriageway resurfacing works 
  • Road affected: Park Road between its junction with the A803 Kirkintilloch Road, Bishopbriggs and its junction with Hillside Drive, Bishopbriggs
  • Duration: from 6am on Monday 2 March 2026 until 6pm on Friday 6 March 2026
  • Notes: Access to the closed section of road will only be maintained for emergency service vehicles, vehicles engaged in the works and those vehicles requiring access to properties and land adjacent to the closed section of road when its safe and practical to do so during the works. Alternative routes are by of Hillside Drive, South Crosshill Road, the A803 Kirkintilloch Road, Cowden Drive, Park Crescent, and Belvidere Crescent, Bishopbriggs, and these routes will be sign posted. 

  • Reason for closure: Contractor carrying out various groundworks including the formation of a new access. These works are associated with the new Cala Housing Development presently under construction. There are also repairs being carried out on the existing former railway bridge on Chryston Road, due to corrosion discovered during the site investigation
  • Road affected: Chryston Road, Fauldhead, at a location to the east of its junction with Market Road, Kirkintilloch
  • Duration: 11.59pm on Wednesday 17 September 2025 until 11.59 pm on Friday 17 April 2026
  •  Notes: In oder to prevent danger to the public arising from damage to the structural integrity of the bridge over the former railway bridge and for the works to be carried out in a safe manner, East Dunbartonshire Council will require to extend the existing temporary road closure on Chryston Road Fauldhead, between its junctions with Market Road, Kirkintilloch, and Sauchenhall Road/Muckcroft Road from 6pm on Sunday 22 September 2024 until 6pm on Friday 31 March 2025
    Alternative routes are be by of Sauchenhall Road, Gartshore Road, Mollins Road, the B8048 Waterside Road, Market Road, Kirkintilloch, Calfmuir Road, and Muckcroft Road, and these routes are presently being sign posted
    Access to the closed section of road is presently only maintained for vehicles engaged in the works and those vehicles requiring access to properties and land adjacent the closed section of road. There is no access through the closed section of road for emergency service vehicles

  • Reason for closure:  East Dunbartonshire Council Roads Service is to carry out carriageway resurfacing works 
  • Road affected: Southbank Drive, between its junctions with Southbank Drive and Donaldson Street
  • Duration: from 6am hours on Sunday 15 February 2026 until 6pm hours on Sunday 22 February 2026
  • Notes: The alternative routes are by way of Southbank Drive, Townhead, Cowgate, Catherine Street, the A806 New Lairdsland Road, Parliament Road, the B757 Lenzie Road, Donaldson Street, and Marina Way, Kirkintilloch, and these routes will be sign posted. 

    Access to the closed section of road will only be maintained for emergency service vehicles, vehicles engaged in the works and those vehicles requiring access to properties and land adjacent to the closed section of road when its safe and practical to do so during the works.

    The temporary road closure will be carried out under two phase to allow access to Sainsbury’s and also to Strathkelvin Place, Kirkintilloch.

  • Reason for closure: East Dunbartonshire Council Roads Service is to carry out carriageway resurfacing works

  • Road affected: Clober Road, between its junction with Stable Road and a point north of its junction with Craigton Road
  • Duration: 12.01am on Sunday 1 March 2026 until 6pm on Sunday 8 March 2026
  • Notes: Alternative routes will be by of Stable Road, Crawford Road, James Watt Road, North Dumgoyne Avenue and Craigton Road, Milngavie, and these routes will be sign posted.   • Road affected: Main Street and the A81 Milngavie Road, Milngavie and Bearsden, between its junctions with Burnbrae Roundabout, Milngavie, and Alexander Grove, Bearsden
  • Duration: from 6am on Sunday 8 March 2026 until 11:59pm on Sunday 22 March 2026
  • Notes: 

    Alternative routes will be by of the A81 Milngavie Road, MacFarlane Road, Canniesburn Toll Roundabout, the A809 Drymen Road, the A809 Stockiemuir Road, Bearsden, the B8050 Craigdhu Road, Park Road, Main Street, Woodburn Way, Station Road, the A81 Glasgow Road, the A807 Auchenhowie Road, Milngavie, and the B8049 Boclair Road, Bearsden, and these routes will be sign posted. Local internal routes will also be sign posted.

  • Town: Torrance
  • Road affected: Barraston Road between its junction with Tower Road and its junction with Acre Valley Road
  • Duration: 9.30am until 3.30pm on Wednesday 18 March 2026
  • Notes: 

    Alternative routes will be by way of Tower Road, the A807 Balmore Road, the B822 Main Street and West Balgrochan Road, and Barraston Road, Torrance, and these routes will be sign posted.

    Access to the closed section of road will only be maintained for emergency service vehicles, vehicles engaged in the works and those vehicles requiring access to properties and land adjacent to the closed section of road when its safe and practical to do so during the works.


Scheduled temporary traffic management

  • Reason for traffic management: A contractor is to carry out the removal of vegetation 
  • Town: Bearsden
  • Road affected: Canniesburn Road at the existing railway bridge
  • Duration: from 11pm on Saturday 7 March 2026 until 9am on Sunday 8 March 2026
  • Notes: In order for the works to be carried out in a safe manner, the existing pedestrian crossing facility will require to be switched off and temporary three way traffic signals incorporating pedestrian crossing facilities will be used. The temporary traffic signals will be manually controlled at all times.  

  • Reason for temporary traffic management: SPEN is to carry out cabling works
  • Town: Bearsden
  • Road affected: Rubislaw Drive at its junction with Pendicle Road, Bearsden
  • Duration: 9.30am on Thursday 26 February 2026 until 6pm on Saturday 7 March 2026
  • Notes: In order for the works to be carried out in a safe manner,  temporary three way traffic signals will be used to control traffic movements on Rubislaw Drive at its junction with Pendicle Road, Bearsden. The use of temporary traffic signals may result in delays to traffic in the area.

  • Reason for temporary traffic management: BT is to carry out works to overhead cables 
  • Town: Bearsden
  • Road affected: A809 Stockiemuir Road north of its junction with Stockiemuir Avenue, Bearsden
  • Duration: from 9.30am until 3.30pm on Wednesday 4 March 2026
  • Notes: In order for the works to be carried out in a safe manner, temporary two way traffic signals will be used to control traffic movements on Stockiemuir Road at the works location. The temporary traffic signals will be manually controlled at all times.  

  • Reason for traffic management: East Dunbartonshire Council Roads Operation is to carry out works associated with the installation of a new pedestrian crossing facility
  • Town: Kirkintilloch
  • Road affected: Newdyke Road near its junction with Newdyke Avenue
  • Duration: from 9.30am on Monday 23 February 2026 for approximately two weeks
  • Notes: In order for the works to be carried out in a safe manner, temporary two way traffic signals incorporating pedestrian crossing facilities will be used to control traffic movements on Newdyke Road at its junction with Newdyke Avenue. The temporary traffic signals will be manually controlled at peak times, each day.

  • Reason for traffic management: East Dunbartonshire Council Regeneration Team is to carry out road improvement works

  • Road affected: A891 between its junctions with the B822 Crosshill Street and School Lane
  • Duration: from Tuesday 6 January for approx 6 months
  • Notes: In order for the works to be carried out in a safe manner, rolling temporary traffic signals incorporating temporary pedestrian crossing facilities as required will be used to control traffic movements.
    The temporary traffic signals will be manually controlled between 7am and 7pm, each day.  The use of temporary traffic signals may result in delays to traffic in the area.

  • Reason for traffic management: East Dunbartonshire Council Roads Operation is to carry out works associated with the installation of a new pedestrian crossing 
  • Town: Lenzie
  • Road affected: Lindsaybeg Road at Millersnuek Primary School
  • Duration: from 9.30am on Monday 9 February 2026 for approximately two weeks
  • Notes: In order for the works to be carried out in a safe manner,  temporary two way traffic signals incorporating pedestrian crossing facilities as required will be used to control traffic movements on Lindsaybeg Road at the works location
    The temporary traffic signals will be manually controlled at peak times, Mondays to Fridays.The use of temporary traffic signals may result in delays to traffic in the area.

  • Reason for traffic management: BT is to carry out repairs to a frame/cover 
  • Town: Lenzie
  • Road affected: Kirkintilloch Road at its junction with Middlemuir Road
  • Duration: from 9.30am on Monday 2 March 2026 for approximately three days.  
  • Notes: In order for the works to be carried out in a safe manner, temporary three way traffic signals will be used to control traffic movements on Kirkintilloch Road at its junction with Middlemuir Road. The temporary traffic signals will be manually controlled between 7am and 7pm, each day.

  • Reason for traffic management:  East Dunbartonshire Council Roads Opeations is to carry out drainage repairs 
  • Town: Milngavie
  • Road affected: The A81 Main Street near the vehicular access to MacDonalds
  • Duration: 8am on Saturday 21 February 2026 until 6pm on Sunday 22 February 2026
  • Notes: In order for the works to be carried out in a safe manner, the existing pedestrian crossing facility will require to be switched off and temporary three way traffic signals incorporating pedestrian crossing facilities will be used to control traffic movements on Main Street at its junction with the vehicular access to MacDonalds, Milngavie. f

    The temporary traffic signals will be manually controlled between 7am and 7pm, each day.  The use of temporary traffic signals may result in delays to traffic in the area.

  • Reason for traffic management: SPEN is to carry out cabling works 
  • Town: Milton of Campsie
  • Road affected: A891 Campsie Road at its junctions with Antermony Road and the B757 Birdston Road
  • Duration: from 9.30am on Monday 16 February 2026 for approximately two weeks
  • Notes: In order for the works to be carried out in a safe manner the existing traffic signals will require to be switched off and temporary three way traffic signals incorporating pedestrian crossing facilities will be used to control traffic movements. The temporary traffic signals will be manually controlled between 7am and 7pm, each day.  The use of temporary traffic signals may result in delays to traffic in the area.

Advance warning notification signs will be erected on street one week prior to the start of the works.

 

  • Reason for traffic management: Scottish Water is to carry out repairs to damaged ironwork 
  • Town: Milton of Campsie
  • Road affected: A891 Campsie Road at its junction with Lochiel Drive
  • Duration: from 9.30am until 6pm on Thursday 5 March 2026
  • Notes: In order for the works to be carried out in a safe manner, temporary three way traffic signals will be used. The temporary traffic signals will be manually controlled at all times.

 

  • Reason for traffic management: BT is to carry out overhead power cable works 
  • Town: Near Twechar
  • Road affected: Twechar Road at the vehicular access to Brewster Brothers, near Twechar
  • Duration: 9.30am until 3.30pm on Wednesday 4 March 2026
  • Notes: In order for the works to be carried out in a safe manner, temporary three way traffic signals will be used to control traffic movements on Twechar Road at the vehicular access to Brewster Brothers, near Twechar, from 9.30am until 3.30pm on Wednesday 4 March 2026. The temporary traffic signals will be manually controlled at all times.

  • Town: Torrance
  • Road affected: Main Street
  • Duration: Thursday 14 August 2025 until Friday 12 February 2027 and will be effective between 8.30am and 9.30am and between 2.30pm and 3.30pm, Monday to Friday
  • Notes: On Tuesday, 29 July 2025 the East Dunbartonshire Council made a Temporary Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 which makes it unlawful for any person to cause or permit any vehicle, with the exception of school buses, to wait or load or unload in the length of road specified in the Schedule by reason of the likelihood of danger to the public, as school buses will be dropping off school pupils due to the temporary decant of pupils from Milngavie Primary School to Torrance Primary School.
