Local Development Plan 3 Update
The Local Development Plan 3 (LDP3) Evidence Report is currently undergoing an independent ‘Gatecheck Review’ by the Scottish Government’s Planning and Environmental Appeals Division (DPEA). The purpose of the Gatecheck is to determine whether the planning authority has sufficient information to prepare an LDP. The current target for completion of the Gatecheck is mid-November 2025. Full details can be found on the DPEA website.
In the meantime, the Land Planning Policy team has begun analysis of the submissions received as part of the Call for Ideas and Sites consultation, which ended on 15 September 2025. Outcomes from the analysis will help to inform the Proposed LDP3, which is expected to be published for consultation later next year (2026). Further details on the full LDP3 timetable will be set out in our updated Development Plan Scheme for 2025, which is expected to be published in November 2025.
National Planning Improvement – Customer and Stakeholder Survey 2025
The National Customer and Stakeholder Satisfaction Survey is an annual survey undertaken by the National Planning Improvement Team in the Improvement Service. The survey is intended to be filled out by all users of the planning authorities in Scotland to collect views on the service received. Responses will be used this to identify areas for improvement.
The survey should only take a few moments of your time and all your responses help planning authorities improve their offer to you.
Please note, this survey seeks feedback on your experiences only in relation to the planning authority and not other services such as Building Standards. Fill in the National Customer and Stakeholder Satisfaction survey.
Please respond with one entry per planning authority - if you have interacted with more than one in the last 12 months, please complete a separate survey to record this.
East Dunbartonshire Budget Consultation 2026/27
East Dunbartonshire Council’s budget for 2026/2027 will be decided in March 2026 and we want to ensure that any budget proposals address the issues that our residents, businesses and local partners feel most strongly about.
]As a Council we are facing budget pressures like never before. All local authorities are having to deal with increasing costs including prices for energy, fuel and material, increasing National Insurance contributions and a real time decrease in funding. Councils are legally required to set a balanced budget meaning we must find ways to make savings or increase our income.
While we manage the Council’s finances responsibly and plan carefully to meet any challenge, our budget pressures are influenced by a range of factors. Despite this, we must continue to deliver essential services for our local communities.
In our strategic planning approach, 'East Dunbartonshire Forward in Partnership', we committed to engaging with our communities on our decision making.
The short survey should only take about 10 minutes to complete.
Complete the Budget survey 2026/27.
The survey will run until Sunday 23 November 2025.
Climate Action Plan
Climate change is no longer a distant threat – it is reshaping Scotland’s environment now.
In response to this, East Dunbartonshire is playing its part by developing its Climate Action Plan (CAP). The CAP guides our journey to net zero, helping us meet our statutory duties as a public body while strengthening the Council’s ability to adapt to a changing climate and deliver co-benefits to our local communities.
The Council is currently seeking views on its draft CAP. The public consultation is open until the 19 December 2025 with a variety of in-person and online events, including an online survey, drop-in sessions and a formal public engagement session.
Drop-in sessions are being held on:
- Monday 3 November 2025 – 3pm-7pm in Lennoxtown Library
- Monday 10 December 2025 – 11am-13:30pm in Bishopbriggs Library.
A formal public engagement event is being held on Friday 7 November 2025 from 2pm-5pm in Kirkintilloch Town Hall. To reserve a place, please email sustainability@eastdunbarton.gov.uk
In addition, an online engagement session will take place (via Microsoft Teams) on Thursday 20 November 2025, 2pm-3pm. All welcome – please visit the Draft Climate Action Plan webpage for a link.

Other news: Scottish Airspace Modernisation Proposal
Glasgow Airport, Edinburgh Airport and NATS are working closely together to develop a proposal to modernise Scottish airspace. The aim is to provide quicker, quieter, cleaner journeys across UK airspace. To support this, a 14-week consultation period is now underway, running from 20 October 2025 to 25 January 2026. You can find out more by vising the Scottish Airspace Modernisation website.
The consultation includes a series of in-person drop-in sessions hosted by the Glasgow Airport Airspace Change team. Three of these sessions will take place in East Dunbartonshire (details in the link above). There will also be a series of online webinars throughout the consultation period.
