Campsie Memorial Hall in Lennoxtown is undergoing an extensive renovation to upgrade the Victorian venue in the centre of the town.

The Campsie Memorial Hall Revitalisation Project will see the square footage of the building - which dates from 1866 - increase by way of a new extension. A more streamlined layout is planned in order to appeal to a wider range of groups by improving accessibility.

The new-state-of-the-art building will continue to serve as a meeting point and venue for the people of Lennoxtown, whilst also appealing to groups from further afield who are seeking a well-equipped modern venue for performances and meetings.

Campsie Memorial Hall will close to the public on Monday 14 April 2025. Following a decant, construction work begins in May and the Hall will re-open in early 2026.

A smart new frontage will be created to enhance the entrance to the venue from Main Street.

As well as undergoing an external facelift and extension, the internal layout of the building will be reconfigured to ensure the best use of space.  All activity spaces will now be across one level to promote greater accessibility and inclusion.

All services found in the Hall will be organised around a central reception foyer with expanded kitchen facilities and publicly accessible toilets.

Net zero ambitions will be realised by use of renewable energy and highest standards of insulation and various energy and resource efficiency measures to cut carbon and ongoing running costs.

There will also be improved greenspace with enhanced landscaping, seating, growing space and bike facilities to complement the revamped indoor space.

Funding for the project was secured from the Scottish Government Capital Grant Fund which has granted £950,000 towards the renovation.

A further £600,000 of funding is from The Council’s Capital Programme.

To ensure safety while the renovation works are ongoing, Lennox Square Car park – which is adjacent to the Hall – will remain closed.

The internal upgrades to the building will ensure that it is fully accessible and therefore able to accommodate a wider range of groups.

The main Hall will be suitable for functions and performances as well as for regular community groups and clubs who have utilised the space in recent years.
