I, Ann Davie, the Returning Officer for East Dunbartonshire Council, hereby give notice that a by-election is to be held for the return of ONE COUNCILLOR for the Electoral Ward 3 – Bearsden South Ward of East Dunbartonshire Council. The number of councillors to be elected is as follows:

  1. Nomination forms can be obtained from the Council Headquarters, 12 Strathkelvin Place, Kirkintilloch G66 1TJ or downloaded from the Council’s Website at www.eastdunbarton.gov.uk. This office is open for the issue and delivery of nomination papers by appointment on weekdays from 10am to 4pm.
  2. Completed nomination forms must be delivered to the Returning Officer at the above address by 4pm on Tuesday 23 December 2025.
  3. An election will be held if the ward is contested, and voting will take place between 7am and 10pm on Thursday 29 January 2026.
  4. Applications to register to vote must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at the address below by 12 midnight on Tuesday 13 January 2026. Applications can be made online.

Postal or proxy voting

  1. Any elector may apply for a postal or proxy vote at this election.
  2. Applications, amendments or cancellations of postal votes must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at the address below by 5pm on Wednesday 14 January 2026.
  3. Applications to vote by proxy at this election must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at the address below by 5pm on Wednesday 21 January 2026.
  4. Applications to amend or cancel existing proxy arrangements must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at the address below by 5pm Wednesday 14 January 2026.
  5. Applications to vote by emergency proxy at this election, i.e. made after the 5pm Wednesday 21 January 2026 deadline, must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at the address below by 5pm on Thursday 29 January 2026. To apply on the grounds of work/service, the person must have become aware that they cannot go to the polling station in person after 5pm on Wednesday 21 January 2026.
