When you arrive for your appointment you must follow our site rules:
- Each vehicle will be allocated a total time of 15 minutes. Arrive promptly for your slot. If you arrive too early, you must wait for your slot. If you arrive late, you cannot enter.
- We check the vehicle registration and only booked vehicles are permitted.
- Site management measures are in place, please follow all signage and instructions.
- Remain in your vehicle until staff instruct you to unload your waste.
- A maximum of two people are allowed out of the vehicle to unload items.
- Staff cannot help you unload – only bring what you can carry.
- Respect staff on site and follow their instructions – they are there to help.
Staff will ask what items you have and advise you to wait for an area to become free. They will then ask you to drive to an area where you can deposit your items.

Site information
East Dunbartonshire residents using private cars can use the site to dispose of household and garden waste. This includes estate cars, 4x4 vehicles (except pick up trucks), people carriers and camper vans unless modified to carry goods.
The Council do not accept tyres at the recycling centre. If you need new tyres on your car, the garage fitting them will normally dispose of your old ones for you. If you change your tyres at home, tyre companies may charge a small fee to recycle them so it's good to always check first..
There are different times for non-trade vans and cars with trailers:
The types of vehicles and trailers shown below will only be allowed to dispose of waste during the allocated times at the household waste and recycling centre at Mavis Valley, Balmuildy Road, Bishopbriggs.
You cannot get an appointment to enter Mavis Valley household waste recycling centre for the following types of vehicles:
- Tipper vehicles
- Vehicles with more than four wheels
- Vehicles weighing over 3.5 tonnes
- Vehicles with a trailer more than 1.8m long x 1.2m wide
- Vehicles with twin axle trailers
- Vehicles with any commercial waste.
Site locations
Mavis Valley, Balmuildy Road, Bishopbriggs G64 3QQ is the Council’s Recycling Centre (rubbish dump) and residents can recycle household waste here. It is for East Dunbartonshire residents and you may be asked for proof of address and photographic identification when you visit. Commercial waste is not accepted.
In addition to the main recycling centre at Mavis Valley, there are a number of recycling 'bring sites' throughout the area. These are located in supermarket car parks and town centres (with bottle banks, paper banks, can banks etc) so you don't need to go out of your way to recycle.
Please note, all items should be placed in the containers and not left at the side. Any items left on the ground and not in the container can be classed as flytipping and a fine could be enforced.
