Parents Portal

East Dunbartonshire Council is changing the way schools and families communicate with each other through a new online service called parentsportal.scot.

This is an online portal designed to be a one-stop shop for a number of school-related activities and will create a new digital relationship between home and school. Through time it is hoped this portal will replace the traditional ‘schoolbag run’ and make communicating with one another easier and more efficient.

At the heart of the system is an online account created by the Scottish Government called myaccount. This is a secure method of accessing parentsportal.scot which will allow you to link to your child and carry out the following tasks using a single sign-on approach:

  • Make online payments (cashless catering)
  • Report an absence
  • View pupils' attendance
  • View pupils’ timetable
  • View trips and events
  • View school holidays
  • View school twitter feed
  • Book appointments for Parents' Evenings
  • Update contact details
  • Receive notices from the school
  • Apply for Young Persons' Free Bus Travel Scheme (for 5-10 year olds)
  • Complete the annual data check (that's when we check emergency contacts etc).

Before you can access the many features parentsportal.scot has to offer, you must first have a myaccount. If you do not already have an account, there are instructions in the frequently asked questions (FAQs) below on how to set one up. Once you have done this you can then register for parentsportal.scot. Please follow the instructions in the FAQs to do this.

Once you have successfully registered on parentsportal.scot you will be able to link to your child(ren) and gain access to the services listed above. Please note that in order to link to your child(ren), the data you provide during registration must match the most up-to-date data that we hold for them. Parents of children who have moved schools or those transitioning to secondary school must link with their child at their new school on Parents Portal. Watch a short video for a useful guide to registering [opens in a new window] or if you don't have a MyAccount click on the FAQs below to get started.

Our FAQs should give you all the information you need to register but should you need any further assistance please contact the school office.

We hope that parentsportal.scot and its services will become an integral part of you and your child’s school experience.

Parents of new P1s will receive a letter from their school with log in details for Parents Portal. If you do not have your child’s log in details please contact your school office.
