Roads and lighting faults

Our Roads Team is responsible for maintaining and repairing over 500km of  public roads (carriageways), footways (pavements), maintaining and renews more than 18,000 lighting units.

Some of the faults that the Roads Team resolve are:

  • potholes
  • footpaths
  • kerbs
  • traffic lights
  • footbridges
  • street lights
  • manhole covers
  • fallen trees

Road workers are on call 24 hours a day, for emergencies.  We also regularly inspect our roads and pavements for defects.  The frequency we do this varies on the road or pavement’s rank.

It isn’t possible to find every fault, so if you are aware of any road or lighting issue that we need to attend to, you can report it through our electronic forms. We have dedicated forms for each roads and lighting.

Please give us as much information as you can for the street lighting, including:

  • Column number (normally found above head height on each lighting column)
  • Street name, town and location of fault
  • Nature of fault e.g. dark lamp

Each form is tailored to the fault type to allow us to receive as much information as possible to allow a speedy remedy.
