Parking Fines
The Council is responsible for enforcing parking restrictions in East Dunbartonshire. Our Community Wardens use an electronic device to store information and produce the ticket, and they also take photos of the vehicle. They have body worn cameras that can record any incidents or inappropriate behaviour. At this time Police Scotland will continue to deal with vehicles causing an obstruction.
Parking in a disabled bay
Blue Badge holders can park for free in all of East Dunbartonshire's Council car parks - even where charges are in place and regardless of whether it is in a disabled bay as long as a valid disabled badge is properly displayed. You do not have to obtain a pay & display ticket.
Town centre car parks
New parking charges will come into effect for a number of Council car parks from Monday 1 July 2024.
The new charges are applicable Monday-Saturday, 9am-5.30pm:
- 0-2 hours - £2
- 2-3 hours - £3
- 3-4 hours - £4
- Over 4 hours - £6
Sundays remain free all day.
It is the first time charges have increased since June 2018. Any additional funds raised will be ring-fenced for roads and transportation. The decision to increase the charges were agreed at the Council meeting in March 2024. Read the Council paper outlining all the increases to fees and charges.
The charges will apply in nine East Dunbartonshire Council car parks: Roman Road and Bearsden Hub (Bearsden); Barleybank and William Patrick Library (Kirkintilloch); Douglas Street, Mugdock Road, Stewart Street North and Woodburn Way (Milngavie); and Kenmure Drive (Bishopbriggs).
Parking fines
If you receive a Parking Fine or Penalty Charge Notice (PCN), please do not ignore it.
New Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) levels for parking offences came into effect across East Dunbartonshire on 4 September 2024.
The PCN charge is £100 but if paid within 14 days the fine will reduce to £50.
If payment has not been received before the period of 28 days further action will be taken. If payment remains outstanding after 56 days and a Charge Certificate is issued the amount due will increase to £150.
