Proposed temporary relocation of Milngavie Primary

April 2024 - The Council would like to take the opportunity to thank everyone who took the time to complete this questionnaire regarding the proposed temporary change of the use of Oakburn Park in Milngavie for the temporary decant of Milngavie Primary School during its refurbishment.

Following consideration of the consultation responses at the Council meeting on 26 March 2024, the Council has decided in-principal to obtain the relevant permissions to temporarily change the Common Good status of the land for the duration of the decant period.  The timescales required to obtain this consent are difficult to determine and so Officers intend to progress this initially during 2024/25.

Timescales for exactly when the park may be used to host decant accommodation, and for the delivery of the wider refurbishment project itself, are still under review and will be subject to a future report to Council on conclusion of the pre-construction phase of the project, which remains on-going.

Please see the attached PDF that contains a response to each individual returned questionnaire.

Details of consultation (19/09/23 – 17/10/23)

As part of the Council’s continued investment in its school estate, Milngavie Primary School is set to benefit from a significant refurbishment. The proposed date for these works starting is July 2024 and they are scheduled to last until October 2025.

During these works, the school will not be available for use by pupils or staff meaning that the Council will need to provide alternative temporary school accommodation.

The Council has identified the blaes pitch within Oakburn Park in Milngavie as a potentially suitable site on which to place the temporary school accommodation.

It is anticipated that the proposed change of use would be from January 2024 until November 2025.
