Do you care for an autistic person? Are you autistic yourself? Do you think you might have autism?

During World Autism Acceptance Week (27 March - 2 April) East Dunbartonshire’s Health & Social Care Partnership (HSCP) is encouraging autistic people, their  families and carers to find out more about the support and advice on offer for autistic residents.

A series of informal information sessions are being held across East Dunbartonshire for people to drop in for a friendly chat with the HSCP's Local Area Coordinators.

Drop-in sessions are taking place on the following days:We're supporting world autism acceptance week

Caroline Sinclair, HSCP Chief Officer, said, “Today almost everyone has heard of autism. But far too few people understand what it’s actually like to be autistic.

“Autistic children, adults, and their families just want to be understood, supported and accepted in their communities, schools and workplaces.

“These drop-in sessions are an excellent opportunity for people to visit our information stand and have a friendly chat about the support and advice we can offer for Autistic residents in East Dunbartonshire.

“By sharing our knowledge and experience with parents and carers we can help support them in the development of skills and strategies needed to provide the best care and support for autistic people.

“With the help and support of the community we aim to ensure that East Dunbartonshire becomes an autism friendly area.

“Even if you can’t make it along to one of the sessions our Local Area Coordinators are always happy to answer any questions you may have. Just email them at LACs@eastdunbarton.gov.uk
