Holy Family pupils and head teacher giving thumbs up with inspectorsThere were smiles all round at Holy Family Primary School in Kirkintilloch, following publication of a positive inspection report from Education Scotland.

A team of inspectors from Education Scotland visited the school in October 2022 and published their findings in December.

There were several highlights for pupils and staff in the report, including:

  • Children who are polite and support one another thoughtfully.  They are proud of their school and their achievements.  Children are respected and valued members of their community.
  • The Head Teacher and staff know children and families well.  Together they have developed positive relationships across the school community.
  • A nursery team who are highly reflective and continually strive to improve learning experiences for children.
  • The effective teamwork of teaching staff to improve approaches to learning and teaching.

Councillor Lynda Williamson, Convener of Education, gave the report a big thumbs up when she went to visit the school.

She said, “The year has kicked off to a great start for Holy Family Primary School and Early Years Centre, there was a real buzz about the place when I visited to congratulate the staff and children on their recent inspection report.

“It is evident the children thrive in the wonderful community spirit which is encouraged and embraced by the staff and wider school community.  Staff have worked hard to make improvements to approaches to learning and teaching and this is reflected in the levels of attainment across the school and early years centre. Everyone at Holy Family should be very proud of their achievements – well done!”

Headteacher, Mr Andrew Gallagher, added, "We are all very pleased with the inspection report and are extremely proud of our thoughtful, considerate children and our effective team work in creating a nurturing learning environment in which our children can thrive.  We will continue working together as a team to pursue improved learning outcomes and achievements for all our children across both the early years centre and primary school.  It is an exciting year ahead and I am looking forward to building on this report and seeing Holy Family Primary and Early Years Centre go from strength to strength.”
