Over 140 local residents have hopped on the Mobile Community Testing Bus since it hit the roads of East Dunbartonshire four weeks ago.Joint Leaders at testing bus

The mobile testing bus has been taking asymptomatic testing into the heart of our communities as part of the continuing drive to manage Covid-19, now many restrictions have been lifted. Residents who do not have any symptoms of Covid-19 can climb on board to be tested or to pick up test kits which they can do themselves at home.

Joint Leader of the Council, Vaughan Moody, said, “The mobile testing bus has been extremely well received in East Dunbartonshire, with many of our residents keen to assist our efforts to keep our communities safe.  Over 140 local residents have been tested on board and many more have picked up home testing kits from the bus.  In addition to our community testing facility at the War Memorial Hall in Bishopbriggs, the mobile testing bus is an opportunity for anyone living, working or visiting East Dunbartonshire who does not have symptoms to identify if they have contracted the virus.  Asymptomatic testing is an important part of combatting Covid-19 as we move closer to a normal way of life.”

The mobile testing bus will continue to travel throughout East Dunbartonshire during the month of September and will be at Milngavie Precinct next week – Monday 6 to Friday 9 September, 9.30 – 4.30pm each day.

Joint Council Leader Andrew Polson added, “Unfortunately there has been a significant rise in the number of cases of Covid-19 in Scotland in recent weeks, so community testing is an important means of managing the spread and ensuring that we identify those that have the virus so that they can self-isolate.  I would encourage anyone who sees the mobile testing bus whilst they are out and about in their local community, to take the opportunity to be tested and help keep everyone safe.”

The weekly programme for the mobile testing bus will be published on the community testing section of the Council website

The mobile testing bus is for those who do not have symptoms of Covid-19 only.  Anyone with symptoms should book a PCR test through the NHS inform website.
