Community Asymptomatic Testing Centre extended to wider Bishopbriggs area

Date:
Monday, 29 March, 2021

A Community Asymptomatic Testing Centre has been operating from Auchinairn Community and Early Years Centre since early March, to help prevent the continued spread of Covid-19 in our communities by those who do not have any symptoms but may still have the virus.

Initially targeting the Auchinairn and Woodhill areas, the testing centre is open to all those who live, work, visit or attend school in the wider Bishopbriggs area.

Depute Chief Executive for Education, People & Business Ann Davie said “Asymptomatic Testing Centres are being established across Greater Glasgow & Clyde, targeting communities that show persistent higher than average rates of infection.  We are encouraging all those from the Bishopbriggs area who have no symptoms of Covid-19 to take advantage of this community testing facility and come for a Covid-19 test.”

Anyone who does test positive through this community testing programme will be provided with support to help them and their families to self-isolate.  Full details of the testing centre and how to access support if you test positive is available in the Covid-19 section of the Council website.

The Asymptomatic Testing Centre is located in the hall at Auchinairn Community and Early Years Centre and is open Monday to Friday from 12 noon until 7pm – no appointment is necessary.  Please note that the testing centre will be closed on Friday 2 April and Monday 5 April for the Easter Bank Holiday Weekend.

Anyone who has Covid-19 symptoms should not attend this asymptomatic community testing centre.  They should book a Covid-19 test for those with symptoms in the usual way through the NHS Inform website.
