Appointments available for Customer Services across Community Hubs

Date:
Monday, 12 July, 2021

Lennoxtown HubIn line with the further opening of facilities and services, from Monday 26 July the Council will resume face-to-face appointments for customer services that cannot be delivered online or by phone, through the four Community Hubs in East Dunbartonshire.

Council Leader Vaughan Moody explained, “Throughout the pandemic, our Customer Services team has continued to support the delivery of online services and has dealt with enquiries by phone and by email. This next step will now enable face-to-face appointments to be made for customer service matters, where these are necessary.”

Until now, appointments have been available in certain key circumstances. Following a change in legislation at the start of the pandemic, death registration is now able to be done remotely, but appointments are required for the necessary final face-to-face element of birth and marriage paperwork registrations. These have been conducted in Kirkintilloch Hub since they were reintroduced in July 2020 following the initial pandemic lockdown.

Similarly, when licensing applications and renewals were reintroduced, appointments were available in Bearsden Hub for the final face-to-face checks and the issue of licences.

This next step will see appointments available in all four Hubs in a phased approach. Initially, registration and licensing appointments will be available in both Kirkintilloch and Bearsden from Monday 12 July. This will extend to all four Hubs - Bearsden, Bishopbriggs, Kirkintilloch and Lennoxtown - from Monday 26 July, when wider customer services appointments will also be available for matters which can’t be dealt with online, by email or by phone.

Joint Council Leader Andrew Polson added, “This appointment approach is necessary to keep our employees and our customers safe and to ensure that we do not have too many people in our Hubs – where both customer services and library services are delivered.  There will be Covid mitigation measures in place and we urge all our customers to ensure they follow these when attending an appointment.”

Many services are now available on the Council website.

and customer services continue to be contactable by phone or email. Anyone requiring an appointment can phone 0300 123 4510 or email customerservices@eastdunbarton.gov.uk, and an agent will discuss the requirement and make the necessary arrangements and confirm the date, time and Hub location. The Customer Services team operates Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.
