For the fourth consecutive year, Provost Gillian Renwick has launched her Champion Awards to recognise local people that make an outstanding contribution in their community. 

To date, 24 inspirational local people have been awarded for their commitment to supporting others and improving their local area, having been nominated by friends, family, neighbours and colleagues.

Nominations for the 2026 Community Champion Awards are now welcome in the following six categories:

  • Community Champion
  • Young Champion
  • Caring Champion
  • Sports Champion
  • Arts & Heritage Champion
  • Sustainability Champion.

Provost Gillian Renwick said, “Since the launch of the Provost Champion Awards in 2023, the Depute Provost and I have had the privilege of meeting so many inspirational local people who dedicate their time to improving the lives of others. 

It has become one of the highlights of the year for us and I am very pleased to announce that we’re now looking for nominations for the 2026 awards.

“If you’d like to see someone acknowledged and honoured for the fantastic work they do in the community, please fill out a nomination form. 

“All nominations must be received by 5pm on Thursday 11 June and the Depute Provost and I will then judge all the submissions and announce the winners on Money 22 June. Both of us can’t wait to read all the entries – good luck!” 

Anyone who lives, works or attends school or college in East Dunbartonshire can be nominated and full details of the award categories and eligibility criteria can be found on the nomination form below.
