From walks, talks, crafts and quizzes to racing robots, writing tips and a digital drop-in, Milngavie Library is ready to host a spectacular series of events.
The popular facility will again be at the heart of Milngavie Week, with a packed programme taking place between Saturday 6 June and Saturday 13 June 2026 – including many free activities.
Milngavie Week is co-ordinated by Milngavie Community Development Trust in conjunction with various organisations, services and groups – including East Dunbartonshire Leisure and Culture Trust, which operates Milngavie Library.

- Bookbug in the Park – Saturday 6 June, 10am-10.30am at Precinct Park –songs and rhymes for babies and toddlers. Free to book.
- Robot Car Racing – Saturday 6 June, noon-12.45pm in Milngavie Library –design your own flag and race your car around a track. Free to book, but spaces limited.
- Kids Crafternoon – Saturday 6 June, 2pm-4pm in Milngavie Library – drop in and make a cool craft for Milngavie Week. No need to book.
- Bookbug – Monday 8 June, 10am-10.30am in Milngavie Library – songs and rhymes for babies and toddlers. Free to book.
- From Idea to Author: Writing & Publishing Workshops – Monday 8 June, from noon-12.45pm and also from 1pm-1.45pm in Milngavie Library – join author Debra Murphy for a hands-on, practical workshop on writing and publishing your own book. Free to reserve a place.
- Library Talk – An Evening with Alan Gall – Monday 8 June, 6pm-7pm in Milngavie Library – a fascinating evening with former Chief Superintendent Alan Gall talking all things crime and his amazing career! Free to book.
- Digital Drop-In – Tuesday 9 June, 10.30am-12.30pm in Milngavie Library – get digital help with your devices or library services at this free drop-in – no need to book
- Bookbug – Tuesday 9 June, 2pm-2.30pm in Milngavie Library – songs and rhymes for babies and toddlers. Free to book
- Audiobook Walk – Tuesday 9 June,1.15pm-3pm, meet at Milngavie Library – listen to a fab book whilst enjoying a lovely local, leisurely-paced walk. Free to book.
- Minecraft events – Tuesday 9 June, from 3.30pm-4.15pm and also from 4.30pm-5.15pm in Milngavie Library – if you love Minecraft, then this club is for you, bring your device and join in. Cost £1.75 per attendee (£1.20 concession) – book in advance, pay on the day – for ages 8+.
- Minecraft for 12+ Creators – Tuesday 9 June, 5.15pm-6pm in Milngavie Library – do you enjoy creating magic on Minecraft? Want to meet other builders? Come and help create worlds within the library realm for younger players. Free to book – for ages 12+.
- Library Talk – A Trail of Blood: A History of Crime Writing with Allan Martin – Tuesday 9 June, from 6pm-7pm in Milngavie Library. Join crime writer Allan Martin for a concise introduction to the history of crime fiction in this fascinating talk. Free to book.
- Craft and a Cuppa – Wednesday 10 June, 10.30am-12.30pm in Milngavie Library – free drop-in session. Bring your own craft or get some help – all welcome. No need to book.
- Parliamo Italiano – Wednesday 10 June, from 2pm-4pm in Milngavie Library – meet new friends and practice your Italian Free and no need to book – just drop by and chat.
- Library Talk – Into The Throne Room of the Mountain Gods – Wednesday 10 June, from 6pm-7pm in Milngavie Library – join mountaineer and award-winning photographer George Robertson for a visually stunning talk. Free to book.
- Board & Brew – Thursday 11 June, 11am-1pm in Milngavie Library – cards, chess, dominoes and more – free drop-in games session for adults. No need to book.
- Knit and Natter – Thursday 11 June, 2pm-3.30pm in Milngavie Library – bring your own knit or crochet project, share tips and have a chat. Free and no need to book – just drop by.
- Bedtime Bookbug – Thursday 11 June, 5.30pm-6pm in Milngavie Library –gentle songs and rhymes for babies and toddlers (don’t forget your teddy bear). Free to book.
- Quiz Night – Thursday 11 June, 6.30pm-7.30pm in Milngavie Library – forget The Chase, enjoy a fun-filled adult quiz night, with a special Milngavie Week round! Free to book.
- All About Apps – Friday 12 June, from 10am-4pm in Milngavie Library – see what your library card can do for you! Staff will be available to talk about the library’s free apps and to help you to get set up. Free and no need to book, just drop in.
- Library Talk – Everyone has a Story with Ann MacLaren and Mary Edward – Friday 12 June, from 2pm-3.30pm in Milngavie Library – enjoy an informal and engaging talk exploring the art of short-story writing, with practical tips and an interactive discussion. Free to book.
- Adult Crafternoon: Silk Painting – Saturday 13 June, 11am-1pm in Milngavie Library – come and learn silk painting with an experienced crafter. Free to book, but spaces limited.
- Family Quiz Afternoon – Saturday 13 June, 2pm-3pm in Milngavie Library – a fun afternoon is in store for adults and children, working together to compete for the winning trophy. Free to book. All ages welcome.
