It follows consultation with taxi drivers and operators in October 2025, which has helped to narrow down four potential options to two preferred proposals.

Councillor Gordan Low, Leader of East Dunbartonshire Council, said,

I hope as many people as possible can take the time to find out more and have a say. All feedback received will help to inform future plans.

Discussions have taken place with Morrisons regarding town centre redevelopment plans, however, the Council has been informed that a designated, formal taxi rank – also known as a stance – within the store car park is not an option due to limited space.

Previously, an informal stance operated from the area between Morrisons and St Matthew’s Church, but that was fenced off by the supermarket following road layout changes.

A new Civic Space is being created in that area as part of the Bishopbriggs Town Centre Regeneration project, an element of the Glasgow City Region City Deal. It is not possible to include a taxi rank within the plans.

For more information and to access a short survey, please visit the Bishopbriggs Taxi Stance consultation page.

The consultation closes at midnight on Friday 20 March 2026. If you require assistance or have any questions, please email taxiconsultation@eastdunbarton.gov.uk

* Proposals for taxi ranks in Kirkintilloch and Milngavie were approved by the Council's Policy and Resources Committee in November 2024 and the necessary Traffic Regulation Orders are being progressed.

Meanwhile, appropriate taxi stance options within Bearsden are currently being considered.
