It’s ‘Results Day’ (Tuesday 4 August) and for hundreds of pupils across East Dunbartonshire it’s time to learn how they have performed in their National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher exams.
Early analysis indicates that overall, results in East Dunbartonshire remain strong for pupils across our eight secondary schools1. A significant number of young people have passed, achieving A, B and C grades. For National 5 it was 82.7%, for Highers it was 82.6% and for Advanced Higher the figure was 77.0%. The National 5 and Higher results are an improvement on 2025 figures and Advanced Higher results are on a par with last year.
Convener of Education, Councillor Lynda Williamson, said,
Huge congratulations to all our senior pupils who have achieved some truly outstanding results this year – I am so pleased for you all and hope you are very, very proud of yourselves.
"I also applaud your families who have supported you and all the dedicated school staff who work so hard to ensure every pupil in East Dunbartonshire reaches their potential. This will be a very proud day for them too!”

Councillor Williamson continued, “Whilst we are delighted to see so many pupils achieving National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher awards, we are equally as proud of our young peoples’ achievements in National Progression Awards and Foundation Apprenticeships. These qualifications provide flexible pathways to support pupils to develop skills relevant to careers and the world of work. These results will not be known until later in the year, but I am confident we will see high achievements in these qualifications too.”
Pupils concerned about their grades can submit an appeal which involves a marking review by the Qualifications Scotland. Across Scotland, further in-depth analysis of the results data will be undertaken following the release of Insight data which will take account of the outcome of appeals at school level.
Councillor Williamson outlined the support available to anyone who needs it. She said, “If you are disappointed with your results this morning, please speak to your teachers as they can help you navigate flexible routes to your chosen career. Remember there are always other options, so it is really important to seek careers guidance if you did not receive the results you were hoping for.”
