Introduction

An evocative new exhibition will launch next month at East Dunbartonshire’s newest art gallery – in the heart of Mugdock Country Park. Peaks, Petals & The Deep Blue Sea by Milngavie artist Geoff Foord will open at the new Campsie Gallery on Wednesday 8 October.

The artist – who was born in Glasgow and now lives in Milngavie – found his calling after swapping computers for creating paintings.

Foord, a former civil engineer, has swapped man-made structures for the natural Scottish Landscape which is the inspiration for his work as an artist.

A frequent visitor to the Highlands, he enjoys exploring the ever-changing mountain landscape and West coast rugged island vistas.

As an active member of a number of art groups – including Bearsden Art Club, Milngavie Art Club, Milton of Campsie Art Club and the Antonine Art Group – he has found companionship through art.

In recent year’s Foord's work has been shown widely in East Dunbartonshire – including at the Lillie Art Gallery, the Auld Kirk Museum and art shows in Milton of Campsie.

His Scottish paintings have also found their way to homes throughout the world – from Australia and Canada to Switzerland, London, Edinburgh and Glasgow.

This is the latest exhibition to be held at the atmospheric new art gallery which occupies the upper level of the park’s visitor centre. It is hoped the venue will become a magnet for both established local artists as well as those from further afield.

'Geoff Foord – ‘Peaks, Petals & The Deep Blue Sea' is on from Wednesday 8 October until Sunday 2 November 2025 at the Campsie Gallery at Mugdock Country Park visitor centre.

The exhibition is open daily from 10am until 4pm. Admission is free.
