On Sunday 9 November 2025, there will be opportunities across East Dunbartonshire for local people to attend Remembrance Sunday events.
There will be Acts of Remembrance in eleven towns and villages where communities can gather to pay their respects and remember those who paid the ultimate sacrifice.
The Council will be represented at War Memorials across the area by Provost Gillian Renwick and elected members.
Local churches and Community Councils have organised events in Auchinairn, Baldernock, Bishopbriggs, Kirkintilloch, Lennoxtown, Milngavie, Milton of Campsie, Torrance, Twechar and Woodilee.
A service organised by the Council will be held at the War Memorial at Bearsden Cross*. It will begin at approximately 10.40am and will be led by the Rev Roddy Hamilton from New Kilpatrick Church.
Provost Renwick said, "These events are always well attended in East Dunbartonshire and I hope that this year will be the same. Many groups have worked hard to arrange services for their local community and I’d like to thank them for their efforts. Please consider going along to support what is happening in your area and think about bringing younger people along so that we can keep the tradition alive and that we never forget.”
The Service in Bearsden will be attended by Deputy Lieutenant of Dunbartonshire Sandy Scott, Provost Renwick, representatives of the Council, Police Scotland, Scottish Fire & Rescue Service, Community Councils, churches, schools, Boys' Brigade, Girls' Brigade, Girl Guides, Scouts and other local groups.
Provost Renwick added,
On behalf of the people of East Dunbartonshire I will be honoured to lay a wreath at Bearsden War Memorial and other Councillors will do the same across the area. As well as remembering the fallen, we must also remember our veterans and those who continue to serve, as well as their families.
“Please join us to pay your respects and to remember the many sacrifices of our armed forces, past and present.”
