People, organisations and businesses are being invited to help guide efforts to ensure fairness for all in East Dunbartonshire.
Please visit the Equalities 2025 webpage to find out more and get involved.
East Dunbartonshire Council is committed to advancing equality, eliminating discrimination and fostering positive relationships between diverse groups.

As part of this commitment, the Council has developed a new set of draft equality outcomes – measurable changes improving the lives of individuals and communities who may face inequality or disadvantage – for 2025-2029.
The authority adheres to the Equality Act 2010 which sets out nine protected characteristics:
- Age
- Disability
- Gender reassignment
- Marriage and civil partnership
- Pregnancy and maternity
- Race
- Religion or belief
- Sex
- Sexual orientation.
We need your feedback to help ensure the Council’s equality outcomes truly reflect the needs and priorities of everyone in East Dunbartonshire.
“This is your opportunity to let us know if we’ve identified the right outcomes and if they align with what matters most to you.
“Please have a say and help us to create a more inclusive and equitable future for local communities. The survey should only take a few minutes to complete.”
In addition to the webpage there will be drop-in consultation sessions in local venues and direct engagement with community organisations.
The new equality outcomes were identified with colleagues within Education and the Licensing Board, shaped by a broad range of data sources and consultations including:
- Reflections on the delivery/performance of the 2021-2025 outcomes
- Equality and demographic data, including census and local health indicators
- Strategic plans developed by the East Dunbartonshire Community Planning Partnership
- The Council’s own priorities and improvement plans
- Findings from Equality Impact Assessments and staff monitoring reports
- Gender pay gap analysis.
Work also took account of recent consultations – such as Locality Plans, the British Sign Language Plan 2024-30 and the Gaelic Language Plan 2024-29 – and information gathered for Equality Impact Assessment processes during the last two years.
The Equality Outcomes 2025-2029 Consultation is taking place between 7 July and 5 September 2025. Please visit our Equalities-2025 webpage to find out more and get involved.
