A by-election will be held in Ward 7, Kirkintilloch East & North and Twechar ward following the resignation of Councillor Susan Murray.
Residents in this ward will go to the polls on Thursday 13 February 2025 to select a new Councillor.
Detailed plans are currently being developed, including the timetable of key dates and deadlines such as publication of the Notice of Election, the nomination period and deadlines for voters to apply for postal votes.
All of these will be published on the Council website.
Ann Davie, Chief Executive of East Dunbartonshire Council and Returning Officer said, “Following the resignation of Councillor Susan Murray on Saturday 30 November, plans have now begun for an election in Ward 7, Kirkintilloch East & North and Twechar.
“We can now confirm the election will take place on Thursday 13 February. Further information and key dates for candidates and the electorate will be confirmed over the coming weeks and published on our website and social media channels.”
