On Monday 28 April, the Council will mark International Workers’ Memorial Day.

We recognise this day every year to remember those who have lost their lives at work, or from work-related injury or illness.

International Workers’ Memorial Day is a global event, with activities taking place across the world.

As part of the Council’s commemorations, the flags at our Southbank Marina HQ will fly at half-mast on the day.

Each year the Council organises a commemorative event at the Cadder Pit memorial Cairn at Bishopbriggs Library & Hub. Council Leader Gordan Low will be joined for the wreath-laying event at 1pm by fellow councillors, representatives from the Trades Unions and from the Community Planning Partnership. The local MP, MSP and Council Management team will also be invited to attend.

Any employee who would like to attend is welcome. If you are unable to attend but would like to mark the occasion, you can participate in a one-minute silence at 12 noon.

Thank you,

Ann Davie
Chief Executive
