Kirkintilloch Canal Festival – employee parking restrictions

The 2024 Kirkintilloch Canal Festival takes place this Saturday (31 August) and Sunday (1 September) – with a range of activities taking place in the town centre.

As a result, there will be parking restrictions in operation around the Council's Marina HQ and Southbank House.

Employees must not park on unsurfaced land at the foot of Southbank Road – between the office block (numbered 4 on the map below) and boathouse – at the edge of the Marina.

As well as causing access issues for vulnerable groups going on boat trips – and emergency services – this is where the festival stage will be set up this Friday (30 August).

A significant part of the Southbank car park (see map) will be closed from 6am this Saturday (31 August) and over the weekend. This does not include the designated electric car bays directly outside Southbank House.

Please ensure that all vehicles – including pool cars – are moved from the affected areas by close of business this Friday (30 August) at 5pm.

Colleagues are also asked to move any vehicles parked in the car park next to Martin Veterinary Centre (off Strathkelvin Place) and spaces outside the Council HQ and Southbank Road, near the Seagull Trust premises, by 5pm this Friday (30 August).
