On Friday 28 April, the Council will once again be marking International Workers’ Memorial Day. We recognise this day on 28 April every year to remember those who have lost their lives at work, or from work-related injury or illness, and events and activities take place right across the world.
As part of the Council’s commemorations, the flags at our Southbank Marina HQ will fly at half-mast on the day and we will be encouraging everyone who is able to, to join in a one-minute silence at noon. We will issue an email reminder of the one-minute silence on the morning of Friday 28 April.
The Council has also traditionally held a commemorative event at the Cadder Pit Memorial Cairn at Bishopbriggs Library & Community Hub, and this year it will take place on Friday 28 April at 2pm. Council Leader Gordan Low will be joined by fellow councillors, and representatives from the Trades Unions and the Community Planning Partnership for the wreath-laying event. Our local MP and MSP will also be invited to attend.
Any employee who would like to attend should discuss this with their line manager to ensure that service delivery can be maintained.
Thank you
Ann Davie
Depute Chief Executive
