Important announcement

Unforeseen operational resource challenges over the weekend mean that our food waste collection service is suspended today, Monday 3 November.

If your food waste bin was due to be emptied today, please take in your bin and present on the next collection day, Monday 10 November.

Green bin collections in a small number of streets in the Lenzie, Kirkintilloch and Bearsden area are also affected. If your green bin has not been emptied today, please leave it on the kerbside for collection tomorrow, Tuesday 4 November.

Our teams will be working hard to minimise the impact, and we apologise for any inconvenience caused.

In order to assist in further developing the use of Smart Working, ICT are implementing a new method for accessing Corporate resources remotely.

The solution being implemented is called Microsoft Direct Access and will improve the ease of use and reliability of remote access. With this new solution when Corporate laptops establish an Internet connection they will also be securely connected to the East Dunbartonshire Council network. This connection is transparent to employees and does not require the employee to perform any additional steps.

Application Testing Outcome

ICT have already sent out a communication to all Service Areas requesting a list of the priority applications needed. ICT have carried out initial testing of these applications with the new solution. Microsoft Direct Access is based on emerging technologies and as such not all current EDC applications work over this solution. However, as an interim measure Appgate will still be available for users to launch for applications which do not work with Direct Access.

Please view the Application Testing Outcome document which lists the applications tested and the outcome of that testing.

What Happens Next

ICT will commence the deployment of Direct Access from the end of November 2015. The Leadership Information Pack lists the order in which the solution will be deployed. Managers and Team Leaders are being asked to complete the Direct Access Request document to prioritise their employees who require to work from a location other than an EDC building. Please return the Direct Access Request to it.serviceline@eastdunbarton.gov.uk

ICT will continually update the Application Testing Outcome document when new applications have been tested. If you wish an application to be tested that is not currently on the list, please contact it.serviceline@eastdunbarton.gov.uk
