Retirement

Retirement is a time of great significance in a person’s life and East Dunbartonshire Council is committed to giving employees who are retiring every facility to ensure as smooth a transition as possible from work to retirement.

This includes a flexible approach to retirement.

The contribution of employees at all stages of their working life is acknowledged by the Council. The purpose of this policy and procedure is to set out the principles and practices which the Council will adopt with regard to employees considering their retirement options. It is intended to give a framework for equity and fairness whilst giving employees greater flexibility in planning their retirement to meet their individual needs.
