Electronic Payments - Debit or Credit Cards
As part of the Council’s Modernising Government programme we offer our customers the choice to pay for the following services electronically (known as ePayments) using their debit or credit card:
- Council Tax
- Cashless Catering
- House Rent
- Non Domestic Rates
- Debtors Invoices
- Miscellaneous Payments (e.g. planning applications, special uplifts).
We offer customers the following ePayments facilities:
Internet payments
Also known as Online Payments, this facility is available 24 hours a day via the Council’s website(link is external) and allows customers to make secure payments for services on a self service basis at a time and place of their choosing. It allows the Council to accept, process and receipt payments directly over the internet. When the transaction is complete the customer is provided with an on screen receipt and email confirmation. In addition, for miscellaneous payments an email is sent to the appropriate Service advising of the payment. The associated ledger coded reference number is posted with the transaction.
Telephone (known as MOTO)
This facility is available from Monday-Friday 9am-5pm by phoning the Council's Customer Contact Centre or certain authorised staff within services. The service is password enabled which allows us to identify which member of staff processed a given transaction. When the transaction is complete the customer is advised verbally of the transaction reference number by the staff member taking the call. In addition, for miscellaneous payments, an email is sent to the appropriate Service advising of the payment.
TouchTone
This is our automated telephone service available 24 hours a day (including weekends and public holidays) and is ideal for customers who do not have internet access or who have difficulty contacting the Council during office hours. The TouchTone service allows customers to key in their payment details over the telephone without involving a live operator. Please note, this service is not available for miscellaneous payments.
Miscellaneous Payments
Customers can use their debit or credit card to pay for services, which have not previously been billed or invoiced, via the Internet or by telephone (but not by TouchTone).
Services who would like to utilise the ePayments facility for any of their chargeable services are requested to complete an ePayments Setup Request Form attached to this page, and return it to Revenues Performance Team, Revenue Services, William Patrick Library, Kirkintilloch. If you wish to discuss your request, contact the Revenues Performance Team.
Services planning to use the ePayments facility must ensure that their back office procedures can accommodate the new payment method, i.e. matching a payment with the service being delivered.
