Employee News
In Employee News 16, issued on 9 August 2024, we confirmed that GMB intended to call their members to take strike action within Fleet Services (Vehicle Workshop) and Waste services based at Hilton Depot (including Mavis Valley Recycling Centre) and provided the arrangements that would be in place during the strike action.
Later on Friday 9 August 2024, COSLA presented the Scottish Joint Council Trade Unions with a revised offer in relation to the pay award. The revised offer would see an uplift of £0.67 to hourly rate or 3.6% (whichever is better).
In presenting this offer, Trade Unions were requested to suspend industrial action.
GMB officials met this morning to consider the offer and have now confirmed to the Council that strike action within the aforementioned services will be suspended at this point whilst they consult on the new offer.
For absolute clarity, there will be no strike action this week, and all employees should report to work as normal.
Attached is a copy of the offer details from COSLA. I hope you find this information helpful in explaining the current update in relation to the 2024 Pay Award and that it provides you, as an employee, with relevant information to enable you to understand the current position.
Line managers should ensure that they share this information with all employees who do not have access to email.
Thank you
Ann Davie
