Back

Dear all,

Next week the 2024/2025 school year ends, and it has been another fantastic 12 months for our pupils and schools. New figures from Skills Development Scotland show that 98.6% of our pupils go on to a positive outcome when they leave school. This is testament to the hard work and commitment shown each day by our students, teachers and all colleagues who work in our schools and Education Service. I wish you all a much-deserved holiday and enjoyable summer.

Tomorrow is our last Council meeting before summer recess and it’s a packed agenda reflecting the breadth of work being carried out. There are updates regarding our Capital Programme and in particular our school projects, our Workforce Strategy action plan and LDP3. You can read the papers on our Modern.Gov site and you can watch along live on our YouTube channel.

I know many of you are taking time off over the next few weeks, so I just want to take this opportunity to thank you for all your work as we continue to navigate a challenging period. I hope you all have a wonderful break.

Could you be a childminder?

We need more local childminders to deliver funded early learning and childcare that gives families choice and flexibility. We’re working with the Scottish Childminding Association (SCMA) to offer a package of funding and training support to anyone considering childminding as a career path. If you or anyone you know has ever thought about it but don’t know where to start or have questions about what’s involved in getting set up, then this is the time to find out more - we can help you on your journey. And Finally….

This week a new and improved Gruffalo Trail around Kilmardinny Loch near Bearsden will be installed. After a two-year absence, the restoration of this much-loved children’s trail will bring a lot of joy to many families. A huge thanks to the Streetscene Technical Support team for their work on this.

Thanks,

Ann
